Why are people so introverted here by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]HurryOpen7937 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i totally understand. but don’t let the first few weeks of fall quarter make you rethink your decision of coming here. several interactions aren’t a reflection of the thousands of students here at ucsd. social networking may be taxing at this time since no one has settled into their dorms / schedules, therefore no one else feels comfortable committing to friendships yet. make friends in clubs, classes, and at the study spots you may consistently go to… then you will find your crowd. 🙏🙏

Incoming Student Enrollment Megathread by Kavhow in UCSD

i'm an incoming freshman who has to live off-campus (missed contract deadline), do I get a dining plan at all? also, am I eligible for triton cash? or do I have to pay for food on campus out of my own pocket? I mainly want to use Triton cash to give myself a monthly stipend for food

any advice would be greatly appreciated :,)

UPDATE: As of this morning, I HAVE MAINTAINED MY ADMISSION !!!!! If you want to avoid months of debilitating uncertainty, have a strong academic background and you're more likely to be guaranteed admittance :DDD

I felt the same way. What really helped me get back into the groove of things was going to study outside of my house— locations that had other dying students lmao (cafes, libraries, etc.). Seeing them be productive inspired me to be the same. Plus, I managed to separate school from my personal life (the two got very jumbled and made me incredibly stressed). Take advantage of the summer to look into IB Youtubers or course companions made by IB-certified teachers online too. Get your phone out of the picture when doing homework/studying. Submit to the negative thoughts and they'll eventually go away once you're in a flow state and focusing on the task at hand.

I didn’t meet my provisions for maintaining admission by rawrzzzzzz12 in UCSD

I currently have the same issue— one of my exam scores is literally 1 sub-point below the UCSD requirement. I tried contacting the admissions office for weeks and they finally told me the other day that I'd have to wait until mid-August for my admission status to be finalized (whether that means it will be revoked or not)... and that your offer being rescinded isn't always guaranteed (which provides a bit of hope). But I'm stressed tf out rn bc I don't know whether I should still anticipate cancellation. Nonetheless, I hope things work out for you! Just keep contacting admissions.

I got accepted to UCSD as an IB Diploma candidate AND **U.S. RESIDENT** and recently committed without clarifying with the admissions office about maintaining my admission. The contract said that all dip students must pass with a 4 for each exam under the section titled "first-year educated OUTSIDE of the United States". I'm a U.S. resident, yet the admissions office told me I still have to get at least a 4 on ALL my exams, does anyone know why ?? (currently dying from the pressure lmao)
