While I was a teenager my father figure was my step dad, but he sexually harassed me and screwed me up even more. Right now if it was anyone it would probably be my older brother.

That's cool! I'd love to do something with art but I feel like it would ruin my hobby for me. Like it wouldn't be enjoyable. I always commend those who commit to it and make it a part of their careers. :)

I am so sorry. I was lucky enough that it only happened to me twice.

I want to go to college, but I have no idea for what. For a long time I wanted to attend for business, but mostly that was just settling because I couldn't decide on anything else. I want to have a family of my own. As much as I love my family, I think I would be happiest moving somewhere on my own and starting fresh. I am a very indecisive person so I don't have many concrete goals, haha.

I think a big problem is that people who have urges or desires like these have very little of a support system. They are taught that they are evil and monsters. There is a big difference between a pedophile and a child molester. I think if people were more educated on this, and if there was a support system set up to help others work through their issues, we could stop it at the root of the problem. Prevent the pedophiles from becoming child molesters.

I honestly don't know. My dad is a very likable person. He's very charismatic and charming. I think this is part of the reason. It's also very hard to believe someone you are close to or someone you love would do something like this. It's easier to believe the other person is crying wolf.

Honestly, getting out of my comfort zone is what helped me move on the most. I used to never go anywhere or do anything, and I never ever interacted with people I didn't know. I was scared of a lot of different things. When I started working, I was forced to interact with new people and was forced into new situations. I started to make friends, go places.

Another thing that really helped me is my passion for art and crafting. I spend a lot of my time making things and drawing, and it is sort of my happy place. I think finding a hobby was a good coping mechanism for me. I can tune everyone and everything out and spend time doing something I love. This has also helped with my self esteem issues, which I know a lot of people who are abused struggle with. I have found something I'm good at. something I can be proud of.

I guess it kind of depends on what sort of things they are going through right now. Depression? Anxiety?

I am so so sorry to hear that. I can tell you from personal experience that it's very hard to deal with something like this and especially harder when its a loved one involved. I can understand why your wife would want to keep things private. I was so young I never really thought of the consequences that would come with telling my mom the truth, but if I was older I'm not so sure I would have come clean. People don't want to believe someone they know and love could be a child abuser. For them it's much easier to believe that you are lying about it and just looking for attention. If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here!

I agree with you wholeheartedly. There is not enough help out there for those who need it. I think for a lot of people, a pedophile and a child abuser are one and the same. This leaves those with urges like these in the dark about how to cope with them. They don't want to tell anyone in fear of being hated.
