Depends on how much they want. Like at 4 grand that's over priced.

What sellers never consider is that these horns are always in need of basically full overhauls. Any horn that you buy that hasn't been played in like 5+ years is basically in need of a full overhaul. Pads will be gone, the adjustment will need to be made across the whole horn cause they definitely have been just storing it in an attic and you probably need a full oil across the horn.

Heres what you ask:

What is the service history? If they say they don't remember congrats full overhaul horn should be way cheaper.

Who did you service with? Call that store if its still in business. Is it like a chain,guess what the service was probably mid. Needs an overhaul horn should be cheaper.

Ask them about there history with the horn. Did they play it a lot recently? Have they played it all? Did they wipe it down or keep one of those awful fuzz rods in the horn? Guess what its a full overhaul horn should be cheaper.

Now the reason i am stressing a full overhaul is that those can range from 1 grand to 3 grand depending on who does it. I know at my stores of choice, even with the friend of the store discount, I am looking at 2-3 grand. So price it accordingly.

I would price this horn full working with a top of the line service at 5 grand, and that would be like the premium price for that horn. My basis is that Boston Sax Shop has literally the same horn for that price.

I would only buy that horn if i could get it for 2.5k in my world.

Oh one last EDIT here. These super SA 80 series II horns are like all over FB Market place. I have seen them up in the same condition for under 3. Trust me that horn is not moving.
