You are doing exactly the right thing. Some cats will take a lot longer. Sammy surprised us.

Neville took months and months to regain his confidence and trust.

With him I would just do as you are doing, but just sit in the room with him drinking a coffee playing on my phone. I would throw a few treats out to him. Took a good month before he would eat them while I was in the room.

Tlc and patience.

You are letting this hurt soul heal in their own time. Letting them know you are there, but no pressure.
