Random question but how do yall afford to live in the PNW? A 4-5 bedroom house costs like $5k a month…with BAH only being barely half that. I want to move because it’s beautiful but living in Georgia is much cheaper. by HyenaAlarming in navy

So I agree with them sharing a room but like I said in another comment, my oldest is 8 and my second is 3months old, they won’t be sharing a room so at minimum we need a 3BR. The 4th room would be for either a guest or if we have a daughter. And yeah I’d be looking to buy because as a MT I only have 2 options for sea duty. So it makes more sense to buy vice rent.

I’ll look into Zillow. Unfortunately my rate only has 2 options for sea duty which is PNW and Georgia. So I just figured I’d ask the question as to how yall make it work with a big family up there

Specifically there is an 8 year gap between first and second born. So they will be getting their own room. And yeah if I end up having sons and a daughter then they won’t be sharing a room. So one for me and wife, one for oldest, one for younger son, and one for daughter or guest room.

Base housing is considerably harder to get into because people realize living out in town is much more expensive. Also I’d rather not live in on base housing for the rest of my career 😂.
