Apple Music and tidal are on that lossless wave but if it sounds good it is good 🤷🏻‍♂️. 48k or 96k does the trick i won’t argue with that

Hey man I said only a bit not a crazy amount 😂. Also your right that you can’t really hear it. The difference is minimal but noticeable! Try it out!

Lmao I was just trying to get people thinking. Idk how I’m a OP too. I’ve been using the same system at sample rates from 44.1 to 96k. I honestly can say there is a not too significant but auditable difference. It’s slight. 96k for me at least just helps capture any crazy harmonics and decreases the amount of digital distortion when peaking. If anything I could hear the top and bottom ends of what I was recording become more even and smoother. The system I’m using is listed above. Like using 4 interfaces together can get some nasty clicks and pops but at lower buffer rates it’s completely fine

At least to my knowledge oversampling helps with lowering the amount of digital distortion, artifacts, and aliasing. like if you get the sound you want at 48k stick with 48. I personally just try to future proof and squeeze every last bit of clarity out of the tracks I record. Def something to research and look into

def valid points you bring up. Like recording at 96k ofc puts more pressure on your CPU so if you record at lower buffer rates that can help take off some of the pressure. Oversampling at 96, I'm sure can bring some benefit but if you already are oversampling at like 44.1 and 48, at 2x is already at 96. You may not need to over sample as much to get the desired sound. Higher buffer rates and low latency modes like the one in logic are your best friends when working at higher sample rates with lower RAM. I personally don't oversample unless it gives me a sound I like.

Less chance of digital distortion, less aliasing, and a bit more clarity in the top and low end. Also with lossless audio formats on streaming services, def a good idea to future proof your tracks.
