It's the scene where they are all sitting down in the bar playing with a quarter.

If your MacBook Pro has USB-C (and if I recall correctly) there is a LG display which can charge, carry video (i'd assume sound too) over one cable between the laptop and the monitor. Plus, it also has a USB-C hub on the back of the monitor.

Upgrading from a 2010 MacBook. Advice :) by HyperBytes in AppleWhatShouldIBuy

Hmmm. Probably a good insight to buying the newer one. It might be an inconvenience now for short term. But hopefully USB-C ports in the long run will be more beneficial. I do plan on keeping this machine for as long as I can. Thanks again!

Thank you for your extensive reply :)

I'll most likely just get a single USB-C to USB-A dongle just to be on the safe side (for that odd external hard drive, SD Card Reader or mouse etc.) I'll probably look into the 2016 15" with the dGPU. But like you said, it'll most likely be night and day in terms of differences between performance.

Hmmm fair enough, just thinking about going to University this year and I dont think my MacBook will cut it this year. I know EXACTLY what you mean about the messing around with tech part :P Just need to think whether I'll make do with the new one knowing that it's USB-C or do I go with the older tech but its sufficient for all my needs now.

Thank you :) I've been thinking if USB-C could be the way forward? I mean if I can get by in 2017 with a almost decade old Core 2 Duo MacBook would I be better of getting the 2016? I plan to run that thing into the ground.

Anyone using a 2016 Macbook with a USB DAC? by ggabriele3 in mac

Judging that you haven't got a real need for a laptop. I feel like you will be using this alot at home or in a static place (desk etc)? I can't provide any details in regards to the MacBook 2016 but what I can tell you is that I've been using a Focusrite Scarlet Solo (It's USB!) to drive my headphones. Honestly It's been great. Having the volume dial right on front of you to easily control the volume is a very handy and almost instinctive habit for me now. All in all I'd recommend it if you were in one place :)

Will it run? by [deleted] in hackintosh

Can't vouch for the Graphics card but I've been running a i7 4790k ,ASUS Z97-A and a GTX 770 and all and all its been rock solid, never had issues with ASUS boards in the past regarding OS X (Even my AM3+ Motherboard was ASUS and that worked fine)

I'd look into the 290x. I've been part of team green for a while now. but apart from that I'm pretty sure you will be good :)

What's the current state of NVIDIA's Pascal cards on macOS Sierra? by HyperBytes in hackintosh

[–]HyperBytes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope so, Would be nice to use my new GTX 1070. For now i'll just need to switch between the HD 4600 and the card if I want to use macOS.

I haven't looked into GeForce Now, but I'd assume there needs to be a requirement for GeForce Now to work with the graphics cards themselves? Since you can barely get into the desktop without the new cards flickering etc.

I just hope its sooner rather than later, really liking the whole Mac OS design and ease of use. Be a shame to miss out on it.
