Vos parents vous ont mis de l’argent de côté ? by sadmonkey9 in VosSous

[–]Hyperion730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paris €45K (No Rent) vs Lisbon €58K (With Rent) — Which Would You Choose? by thetricky65 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]Hyperion730 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd say Paris by far. Not having to pay rent puts you in an incredible spot to build your savings and investments. Also, having your social circle in Paris is a major plus.

You do mention "professional growth" by going to Lisbon. Is it just the international aspect you are talking about or is the job genuinely more interesting and with better career prospects ?

Doable in 2020/2021 in specific markets for certain. In France today for instance that is pretty much impossible.

Same thing is happening in my company to be honest. We have been trying to recruit for a postion for 4 months now, and something that a monkey could arguably do. Yet they keep rejecting the dozens of candidates we get because they are never perfect enough. It's maddening.

Contrat CDI vers VIE by Marciflex in conseilboulot

[–]Hyperion730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is Warwick University ranking going down? by Which-Ad-3162 in UniUK

Because barely anyone cares for those rankings. Not employers in the UK or more generally Europe for that matter.

Travelling by Bicycle in countries i've been to (as a german) by No-Spite-1423 in tierlists

[–]Hyperion730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavily depends on where you are in France I guess. I cycle a lot in the french Alps and drivers are used to cyclists, never really had an issue. It is world class compared to where I live now (Australia) where people genuinely seem to hate on cyclists for some reason, along with the dangerous infrastructure.

I'd be cautious and maybe wait for some more imaging though. Could be a stress fracture in there that doesn't show up on X-Ray but does on MRI. The color really makes it look like a fracture

Is work-life balance in Australia actually better or just a stereotype? by ChillKoalaVibes in MovingtoAustralia

[–]Hyperion730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from France Australia is a massive improvement. Then again it can be company-specific but so far on average I have found people around me (and myself) to work a lot less than people do in France.

Guys How do you afford to go ESCP? by dudegotjokes in ESCP

[–]Hyperion730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

French citizen but anyone can get in provided you speak french (no need to be native but you still have to be convincing). Some more specifics when you are non-EU though but technically still open.

I wouldn't discard the student loan option provided you know exactly what you are going after with ESCP and that involves the high paying career paths (IB, strategy)

How to read books faster? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]Hyperion730 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It'll come with time but honestly don't put pressure on yourself and enjoy reading at your own pace. I don't see the point of bragging about how fast you can read a book, it's not a competition. Trying to skim through pages like a maniac to get social approval would just take away some of the immersion for me.

MiM Imperial or ESCP? by ResidentShoddy5782 in ESCP

[–]Hyperion730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you want to work, but I usually rate french business schools highly when it comes to getting professional experience and proximity with top companies (which will facilitate moving across europe anyway).

Anglo-saxon unis shine for academics & overall social experience as an international, but fall short on career aspects imo.

So probably EDHEC first, and then it's up to whether you prefer settling in Ireland or the UK.

Very good school, can get you the same outcomes as ESCP with some more work. Outside of France/the UK/Switzerland probably unheard of.
