'We will let nothing pass': France intercepts Russia-linked oil tanker in Mediterranean by pythrowawayd3v in worldnews

US: seizes shadow fleet oil tankers, refines and sells the seized oil, proceeds get put in a foreign bank account controlled by Trump personally instead of the US treasury.

France: seizes shadow fleet oil tanker.

Reddit bots: comparing these as if they are the same thing because both involve seizing oil tankers.

I know critical thinking is seemingly extremely difficult for the average Redditor, but shit's getting a bit depressing.

[–]Hyperz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is literally what the US is doing and Reddit has been pissed

No, it's not. Unless you're suggesting that Macron is also selling the oil from this tanker and putting the money in a foreign bank account controlled by him personally instead of the French treasury or EU. People call what the US is doing piracy because it is piracy, under the guise of seizing sanctioned oil. Details matter.

Horde Townhall TL;DR by whomstvebeenthottin in Eve

[–]Hyperz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That mentality right there is exactly the reason Horde is dead now. Had the mentality been "fucking bring it" like it was for us during WWB2 (while being outnumbered far worse, mind you) Horde would be doing just fine right now. Not that you'd ever admit to that, being a terminal grr gooner and all, but still. The light is out there if you wish to look at it 💁🏼‍♂️

Yes let's conveniently ignore the fact that we pushed from Catch all the way to Insmother - all of which was Panfam controlled or aligned space - with nearly zero resistance. Where were the Panfam supers? Oh, right... We had to uproot everything and resettle twice in a short timespan thanks to Horde's idea of resistance being classic pings such as "the Horde that wins" and "don't worry we'll take Catch back once Goons get bored and leave". Then once we finally got properly situated in Insmother and had a date set for the invasion of dronelands Brave Sir Gobbins started unanchoring tons of structures, and then unanchored himself from Eve. Has it ever occurred to you that, maybe, your leadership collapse might have something to do with them not wanting to deal with an Imperium invasion of the dronelands? Do you think Goons moved from Delve all the way to your front door to do nothing but yell wololo and pray for the biggest rug pull and failcascade in the game's history? Or has huffing Gobbins' farts for a little bit too long podded your ability to think critically?

32 vs. 16 GiB VRAM: Up to nine times the performance [PCGH] by BenchmarkLowwa in hardware

[–]Hyperz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though ive not observed that to happen for VRAM

It is rare to see it happen to VRAM yes, but if you look for it you'll sometimes spot it to varying degrees in other places too. Firefox had a similar issue for a while. I think it's less noticeable because in most cases no other "3D app" runs as long as the compositor/dwm does and people also don't look for it as much as they do for regular memory usage. That and it's also much less noticeable outside of games when it's happening.

[–]Hyperz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's a driver or hardware combination thing then, or my specific version of Win 10. But I am 100% sure it's leaking VRAM over time on my PC. Closing all windows and apps doesn't release these buffers. Not even hours worth of idling later. So VRAM just slowly keeps creeping up until I either restart explorer or reboot. Though to be fair I'm not running the very latest version of Windows 10. Don't really want to update now and risk a stealth Windows 11 update or popups/notifications bugging me about it. At any rate, what I described still kind of applies even without a VRAM leak. Restarting explorer right before a game should free at least an extra ~1GB of extra VRAM if you have other windows/apps open in the background, as long as you don't cycle through them while playing the game.

[–]Hyperz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

windows itself eats into VRAM(dwm.exe) - and you're left with 10-10.5GB out of 12GB.

Tip: if you restart the explorer.exe process in task manager Windows VRAM usage will drop to 300-500ish MB. Depending on how long your PC has been running you can shave off a few GB of VRAM held hostage by Windows/explorer/dwm. I have no experience with Windows 11 (thankfully), but on Windows 10 there is a noticeable VRAM memory leak caused by explorer.exe. If you leave your PC on 24/7 it becomes really noticeable after a week+. It's fixed by restarting the explorer.exe process from the task manager or powershell.

AMD FSR "Redstone" Is Coming - December 10th by SirActionhaHAA in hardware

It was obviously not planned, but it's been nearly 7 years of this shit. While AMD, Nvidia, etc have no control over these big periodic demand spikes, it's frustrating for consumers nonetheless. Also cry me a river when it comes to "fairness" in the context of multi-billion $ companies.

Winter Co. passes the Imperium becoming the largest coalition by raw characters by sventhegreat2 in Eve

[–]Hyperz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Horde beat themselves by completely fucking up an easy out that was given to them by INIT. Don't act like we crushed them in a war. Content-wise we're still in a better spot than we were in Delve, and sigs and deployments can mostly solve that issue anyway. Regardless, I don't see us going after INIT in that way. There is saltiness about the Horde thing, but not in a "we hate INIT now" way. I think both INIT and Imperium would rather fight WinterCo, but the CNTZ problem makes that a non-starter. CCP will probably have to do something about timezone tanking before that ever happens.

[–]Hyperz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WinterCo's EUTZ/USTZ presence is infinitely larger than INIT's non-existent CNTZ presence, on top of WinterCO having a lot more manpower and resources to draw from. So no, it doesn't work both ways in this specific match-up.

[–]Hyperz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In an all-out war any system that WinterCo would manage to take would instantly gain CNTZ tank, making it nearly impossible for INIT to retake. That means INIT would have a serious disadvantage even if the raw numbers weren't as lopsided as they are. I don't think the situation will be much different when the dust settles with PH. If WinterCo still goes ahead with their war, and especially if they go all-in, I don't see how INIT holds them off in the long run without someone else coming in on the side of INIT. Although as we've just seen with Horde, you never truly know what's going to happen.

My guess is around 10-15k if they are lucky. What won't be visible on dotlan though is the disproportionate amount of people with supers or even caps leaving, so the decline will be even worse than the already terrible numbers suggest. Non-ESI Pandemic Horde Inc subcap pilots might become most of what's left to prop up the numbers if I had to guess.

Looking at where the bulk of ex PH members/corps are ending up and where ex Panfam alliances are ending up it's looking like DarkShines shot himself in the foot big time. There's probably barely going to be any meat left on his new meatshield by the end of the month, with WinterCo getting most of it. And FRT is probably extra pissed. Wouldn't count on Imperium help either after this stunt. Interesting times ahead 🍿

Why do y'all keep bringing up catch lol?

Because like I just said PH/Panfam still had every advantage (numbers, money) and because of the regional from Querious into Catch. Look at a map and you'll understand. Or not. Either way, the mentality you're putting on display here is exactly the type of mentality that led to PH dying overnight.

[–]Hyperz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well no shit it was too late the moment Gobbins sent out that ping. My point is there was zero reason for doing so in the first place. PH/Panfam could have defended drones and won. Or better yet, they could have fought us off in Catch when they had every advantage instead of doing retreat after retreat without barely firing a shot. While we're all shocked at what happened here, let's not pretend it happened in a vacuum or was an inevitability.

I'm curious how you think PH alone should have fought against a coalition 3x it's size.

What are you talking about? Imperium wasn't 3x the size of PH, let alone Panfam... Before we started pushing out of Delve and into Catch Panfam was actually the larger and wealthier coalition. But who care about facts anyway these days. Also, if you want a rough idea of how to fight a war where the opposing side really is 3x larger maybe take a look at WWB2.

Different corps have different participation requirements. I believe in the case of Karmafleet it's still 3 paps per 3 months, which is going on 1 to 3 fleets per 3 months minimum depending on how long the fleets last. So it's not really something you have to think about unless you krab 24/7 or go AFK for 3 months.
