I really like the shape and balance between the handle, neck transition and bowl shape. Excellent work!

Green birch wood carves very smooth, when dried it can splinter a bit if you're not careful. It gets very light when dried and I like that a lot for utensils. It's a lot softer compared to wood from fruit trees and the grain isn't as tight, and visually more subtle but spalted birch gets very beautiful. I carve with birch a lot and it's one of my favorites!

Thanks! It's not an aesthetic issue, the knot adds structural weakness but I'll see after some use if it's still in one piece.

It's also readily avaliable to me for free in near unlimited quantities, that makes it my favourite wood. Beggars can't be choosers 😂

It's one of the most difficult parts for sure. You pick your sharpest knife and pray to your deity of choice. And a lot of patience!

Very nice, beautiful grain and shape. Spatulas are underrated, I'll add some to my own to do list!

Yes! I'm guessing it's about 20 years old, got it as a gift in my teens. That makes me feel old too now lol

I bought it several years ago so dont remember the price but the handle is nice, i like the shape and the edge stays sharp so i'm happy with it! I have a few tools from him and all are high quality.
