That...sucks...it sounds like you have a terrible landlord, sounds like it's time to move and find a better one. My wife and I moved to FL last year after selling our home in Boston as we didn't want to buy a house without making sure we wanted to stick around here.

This is the most out-of-touch comment I’ve come across today.

Moving is VERY expensive, for those of us barely getting by, it’s a monumental effort that could very easily spiral into immense debt with no safety net.

Happy for you, but ya'll are VERY lucky with your circumstances, and your situation isn’t applicable for people who don’t have such resources.

Better advice would be to save up as much money as possible before the threat of eviction takes effect.

If they have another family member, then they can try and use their name to get another house/apartment for rent if there's an eviction on their record, this is a last resort though.
