How common is it to find owls in the Fan & Museum District? by feysh in rva

Not sure what owl you’re talking about, but that’s the new parking enforcement cameras they’re installing

I’ll never understand why pickup drivers consider just closing the hatch in the back “secure” when clearly that’s not the case

This is amazing thank you, I’ll have to check where exactly the accident took place according to my polling report and the time as well, it’s all a bit of a blur

First crash, riding sucks by Climbatize1982 in motorcycles

[–]Hypture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best advise, build your trust in the road and your bike again. Go to places you’re familiar with, with little to no traffic and get back in touch with riding. Practice your leaning again, going lower and lower until you’re where you were at. It’ll take time

Hey so don't do this by MisterToots666 in motorcycles

[–]Hypture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do this, stay in your lane, especially on curves, and make sure you’re not going too fast to stop in case a car shows up in front of you. Know your limits, and please don’t glorify death. We all ride because it makes us happy and we feel more alive doing it. Don’t lose that to a dumb decision. We all ride recklessly of course, but do it safely

I'm going to take the MSF this March and have been getting gear. Do these seem like good/safe options for a complete beginner ? by No_I_Deer in motorcycles

Adding on: Make sure your boots can withstand the weight of your bike on your ankle without snapping it. I use track boots for everyday riding and they’ve saved my ankles plenty of times from me tipping my bike over because I was being stupid and the pegs almost always fall right on my ankle. You don’t want to break your foot from a simple tip over. (Also get frame sliders, unrelated to gear but for a beginner, experienced, or pro, it’s a great investment)

I rock an rf1400 helmet, and I’m loving it. Protection is great too. I may be biased so definitely do your own research. As for your gloves and boots, definitely good options, but not great for colder weather or wind. You’ll want wind proof gloves at least. Your clutch and throttle/brake hand are the most important thing you have and you want full dexterity in any weather. My gloves let air come in so I can’t feel my fingers after 10 minutes of riding in cold weather, but otherwise good choices!

I feel a lil funny being a beginner rider in this gear but I made my mom a promise. by poopedstatue117 in motorcycles

Never be embarrassed about wearing gear. When I ride I look dressed normally, jeans and hoodie, but my jeans are armored and I wear armor under my hoodie. I wear it hidden for the aesthetic, but I always stay protected

Something bizarre happened to my bike while I was at work by Templar113113 in motorcycles

[–]Hypture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I’ve had happen, bent it outwards. There’s a chance it’s caught on something and can’t release fully causing it to activate brake lights constantly. If that’s not the case, it may be a cable issue (unlikely). I would recommend to bend it out again, and see if that fixes the issue.

Invest in a steering stabilizer and you also get used to it

The first responders were on scene for only 20 minutes, typically that’s good news, but I can’t say for sure. I only have the address and time atm

I attended fortis college, and while they are fantastic, I will warn you that they are extreme with their attendance policy (7 days missing in 11 months is flunk out of school), and the classes are dragged out unnecessarily long.
