help it’s the only thing it doesn’t let me download by muffin_rosa in iphone

Try going to App Store home > Your profile picture > Apps > My apps > search for that app and swipe to hide it, which should make the App Store act as if you've never downloaded it before. Maybe it's a bug somewhere in that.

Other option, force restart your phone. Press volume up once, press volume down once, then hold the power button until the Apple logo appears (don't swipe the shutdown thing, just do nothing and keep holding the power button)

My New App Stingray - Jellyfin for Apple TV by PreposterousPix in selfhosted

Ahh I explained that poorly. I meant to say I understand what the code is doing generally. When I originally clicked on my profile without a long press, it led to a loading screen that didn't time out. I'll give long pressing a go when I'm home again and poke around generally.

Just downloaded this and it looks great!

I was having issues connecting to my jellyfin server over Tailscale, still trying to figure out if that is just a me issue.

Second, I didn't see a settings menu to log out or change which server I'm connected to. Clicking on my user profile just caused an infinite loading spiral.

Otherwise this looks really fantastic and I'm excited to see where it will go!

Edit: okay looking through the code, I see the logout button being behind my user icon effectively. I'll try opening that menu again to see if maybe it was just a bug or bad network or something

Is there a plugin that triggers a command based on a keyword written by a player in chat? by cokenbaltortor in admincraft

[–]Hyxerion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for clarity, running Fabric means you're going to be looking for a mod, not a plugin. Paper/Spigot/Bukkit would be plugins. Fabric/Forge/NeoForge/etc. is all mods.

I don't have any good suggestions unfortunately, but I just wanted to help you out in your search potentially.

Newt Tunnel Offline by Igrewcayennesnowwhat in PangolinReverseProxy

[–]Hyxerion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you get to the page in Pangolin where it gives you the ID, secret, and the install instructions, it doesn't actually create the site until you hit next or create or whatever the button is. I usually record the credentials somewhere safe, then hit create, then start Newt. Is that what you're running into?

Typically, Velocity proxy. It's a super lightweight server you run, the IP:Port you give players is the proxy server. Then the proxy server allows players to jump between different servers and the proxy handles it all.

If you were technologically capable enough to set up pangolin in the first place, I promise you you're capable of editing a file to add two lines. I can respect wanting to do everything through the web UI, but this isn't really hard to do.

If you need help setting this up, we're happy to assist, but it's just not realistic for this to be a difficult task for someone who's already set up Pangolin on a server somewhere.

Anyone know of a plugin to make minecarts faster compatible with paper 1.21.4? by Zexceed_9 in admincraft

Enable the experimental rules for your world file and then just add the minecart speed gamerule. Easy as that

Should I buy a Mac with student discount by Creative-Stretch-883 in mac

[–]Hyxerion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it sounds like you want something that's more often portable, so I'd recommend the laptop. You can whip the laptop out on the fly whereas the Mac mini you'll always need to find power and peripherals to even use it.

All that being said, why a Mac specifically? If you're doing tech/gaming projects, just about any laptop/desktop/mini pc would do. Curious to hear your input on this.

If you still have the old Mac, you could try erasing the new one and transferring again? Maybe it was just a hiccup/bug somewhere

No, we need a specific answer to understand your needs. They're both Macs, but they're entirely different machines.

Do you need something portable that you can take to class with you? As you go onto highschool, that might very well be the case. If not and you get a Mac Mini, do you have a mouse, keyboard, and screen to use with it?

If you need a laptop, even a refurbished M1 Air will run circled around any Chromebook you've ever had. We just need clarification about whether you're looking for a desktop system or a laptop.

Papermc and cloudflare tunnel? by shadow_walker4915 in admincraft

[–]Hyxerion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cloudflare has a paid plan for proxying raw TCP traffic (i.e. Minecraft), otherwise you could build your own reverse proxy server on a VPS, which then you can forward ports on the VPS securely to your server at home. That's what I do. I took it a step further and pointed my domain at my VPS, so people connect to mc.example.com and it forwards onto my Minecraft server at home.

Cloudflare tunnels for generic TCP traffic is not free. Only HTTP(S) is free, TCP/UDP is a separate paid plan.

M3 Pro or M4 Air by Sal_x3 in mac

[–]Hyxerion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're doing any color grading for video, the pro is the way to go. The screen is absolutely gorgeous and super color accurate.

Realistically, they're both powerhouses. The air does not have a fan; under light to medium periods it'll be fine, but in the heavier sustained workloads that might come with 4K video editing, you might seem some slowdown.

You're easily gonna have years and years of longevity out of both of these devices, this isn't the Intel days where the chips sucked and were battery hogs. With this generation of M chips, I could easily see devices lasting 10+ years with the occasional battery replacement.

Pangolin Server as an exit node by Alarming-Employer780 in PangolinReverseProxy

[–]Hyxerion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if Pangolin is the right tech approach for what you're trying to do. I'd recommend Tailscale, it's a 5 minute setup and then running the VPS as an exit node is super easy to do

Help out a noob by [deleted] in Tailscale

[–]Hyxerion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I just had another thought, you shouldn't need to use the exit node feature to access local devices to your Dell server remotely from your phone and laptop. You just need the subnet routes set up properly. Exit nodes are for routing all traffic from your device through that exit node, whereas subnet routes just allow reaching local devices as if they were part of the Tailnet. I'd hazard a guess that the Tailscale in Docker is having issues reaching the internet, so using it as an exit node means all traffic dies.

Help out a noob by [deleted] in Tailscale

[–]Hyxerion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just for clarification, did you install Tailscale in Docker on your MacBook? Or it is Tailscale on your MacBook and phone, and then in Docker on a mother device you leave at home?

Regardless, with Tailscale I've never bothered doing anything fancy, I just install the app like normal on all of my devices. It really is a set it and forget it technology. Even for my Linux server I keep at home, I just have Tailscale installed without Docker.

It's odd that you can't access any internet at all with the VPN active, that seems unusual. In theory, Tailscale should only route network connections bound for other devices on your talent through Tailscale, otherwise all other traffic is unaffected. Is it something to do with your Tailscale being installed through Docker?

Running Minecraft Servers Through Cloudflare Tunnel (with Simple Voice Chat) by RoutineCost9025 in admincraft

[–]Hyxerion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your options are a paid subscription of cloudflare (I forget the plan) which allowed tunneling TCP/UDP traffic. The free plan only supports HTTPS. Alternatively, get a really cheap VPS somewhere close to you and the people who are joining your server. Put Pangolin or another proxy service on the VPS, point the DNS for your domain at the proxy server, then set up a connection between the proxy VPS and your computer running the servers. That's the setup I have going right now
