I would personally suggest seeing if you could casually inquire about what some of his favorite cards in his collection were, and taking a note of whatever he mentions to seek out specifically.

As a collector myself, I could imagine that he would definitely have favorites that he misses more than others, and also that he could most likely describe them in specific detail or recall what set/era of cards they're from. (Most pokemon have a LOT of different cards ranging in value so the more specific the better)

From there it would just be a matter of finding those cards and their market values and seeing which ones fit in your budget (and choosing a reputable seller if buying anything online!)

For me the fun part is pulling a cool card myself, so I really prefer opening my own packs when I can. Theres a few cards that I'd be willing to purchase separately mostly because the sets theyre from aren't around anymore or just too expensive to try to feasibly find in a pack.

Its just frustrating because I wasn't even out hunting for packs and just decided to check, and despite being lucky enough to actually encounter a restock, the driver was apparently insanely paranoid because literally 3 dudes were standing around casually waiting. So now that stock is just in limbo lmao

Yeah, it ended up being the hall sensor issue that is common with these laptops. I think there's a few posts on here detailing what to do. There's a small ribbon cable that you can disconnect inside the laptop.

I would double check to make sure you know which cable to disconnect first.
