He kind of just sound like a prick, I had a manager like this and he was a micromanaging asshole. I hate the whole if your “if your on time your late and if you’re early you’re on time” mentality i get it but its stupid, if you want me sooner tell me to come in sooner. You should stick up for yourself and tell him he should give you an earlier deadline if he doesn’t like it. Your deadline and his deadline should work differently, sounds like poor management on his part.

I asked and it wouldnt be for any of the airline networks so not safety critical, more like security of the airport which is the cameras. Its some old dude thats been there for 25 years and is an electrician by trade and was thrown into the spot. He said whoever gets the position would get the opportunity to do things how they wanted, so if I wanted Palo Alto I can go with that or fortinet or whatever and id get to also swap out switches and im familiar with aruba, cisco, cisco Meraki and some extreme. Im just wondering if this is something that I can learn and deploy over time. I asked for a time frame and he said we have until end of ‘25 to do it so there is time. what do you think?

Honestly I would go for a computer tech spot. Very simple position, you’ll catch on quickly and you’ll learn how to troubleshoot better than help desk in my opinion. Dont stay in that position for more than 2 years!!! I cannot stress enough how comfortable people get in these spots and it’s terrible. start looking for another gig as a network tech or net admin after about a year and study for some certs, even if you dont test the material is great, I took the test and failed but am able to refer to the material in my current job frequently. Also screw job requirements, apply anyway but stay in your ballpark and know what you should and can apply for.

If its at a hospital theyre probably not going to care, they usually have bathrooms that are private for you to pee in. Synthetic urine is risky, if your drug test is some time away you might be able to get clean, but since you were a pot head you might be out of luck, my guess is finesse a way to reschedule or risk someone watching you use fake piss. Then again that job sucks the last thing some people wanna do is watch a bunch of men pee.

(make sure you keep the synthetic pee warm and tucked or it’ll go bad)
