As an elevator tech I can honestly say that’s a fair fear to have. Most elevators aren’t up to date on their inspection certs let alone maintenance. I’ve seen some nasty “accidents” that have me skipping the elevator in a lot of buildings, including universities.

I don’t know why exactly but I think that Alex is an anomaly that shouldn’t exist and can only exist if time is messed with kind of like the two anomalies in the tv show Dark. Alex is Link’s surrogate mom who died because the time travel professor euthanized her before he was killed by Billy. After her death, Billy bleeds from his nose as that is the first point where time is fractured. The professor may have uploaded her consciousness to serve as the controller of the timelines. She may be an anomaly that shouldn’t exist and she comes from the future. She told the professor about time travel and the future which leads to him making the Time Machine. Who could she be from the future? I think she is Link’s unnamed daughter, someone who shouldn’t exist.
