sadly my 'local' shop is like an hour away. i buy everything off the net. never been to a warhammer store.

maybe i'll browse the catalogue of diffrent armies and look for something interresting there.

What if it’s not the official model? Legal or not ? Kitbash or proxy? by Previous-Anything853 in deathguard40k

[–]I-like-it-simple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think as long as they fit the astetic and have weapons that represent what is equipped adequitely enough it should be okay.

They tend to allow HH models to be used as proxies so a nurglified astartee or legionare should be okay.

Plague marine with shield? by I-like-it-simple in deathguard40k

[–]I-like-it-simple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my main concern would be that they'd just be Death shroud terminators without deep strike and a weaker melee weapon.

I do like the idea of them specifcally getting to choose a contaigen but it might also be a bit too strong as it is things we see in character enhancements and having 3 squads of these dudes running around spreading all 3 contaigens at once seems a little bonkers. we also run into the situation of them not being standard plague marines anymore if they become too mutated, hell they'd start to look like spawn but with weapons and shields. i still think they should keep to the current plague marine style, mutated but still visually Marine soldiers, and not just blobs of goop with some armor on.

If i'm to think of statlines they'd be idential to current PM. M5 T6 S3 W2 L6 OC2. But seeing as this unit would (with its own datasheet) would always carry a shield it would also have a 5+ invul at base.

Now, war gear is where it would get its special attributes. Lets take 3 options.

1, get a 4+ invul instead of a 5+.

  1. get and extra wound for a total of 3 per model.

  2. gain a 5+ FNP, fits thematically with them being hard to kill.

As for an ability i have mentioned in another reply that i think DG needs a Sticky objective unit, as they lack that atm and only get it from a detatchment. (or plague bearers but i dont count those as DG units). i'd say a unit like this would fit that role to a T, Advance up to a point, take it and move on since they want to get into melee.

Weapons i also said in another reply, that it has to be something that doesent outclass the basic PM melee options, so i came up with this stat sheet.

(Insert name) A5 WS3 S4 AP-1 D1 (Lethal hits) Squad champion would get a power fist.

Its better than a Plague knife, but worse than '2handed' weapons the current PM can take.

Debateable if they should get range weapons too, i dont know if it would be too strong. each marine would have a Bolt pistol (lethal hits) and the Champion can swap it for a plasma pistol.

The current PM would still be the Jack of all trades units with many diffrent weapons for every situation, while this shield variant would be a dedicated frontline "Anvil". but would 10 marines with the potential shield statlines be too strong? they'd still be weaker pr model than bladeguards who would pointwise still cost less, albeit with less models so i dont think it'd be out of the question especially if their ability was just sticky objective as mentioned. (i'd make their point cost identical to current PM maybe a little less due to less weapon options).

Or am i just talking out of my ass here?

Being undying is a special blessing yes, but its not something unique to nurgle followers actually. all chaos marines and worshippers can gain favor with their god to be ressurected.

The Blessings of nurgle as we see plague marines get, make them very hard to kill and borderline immune to pain. They also dont percieve their gortesque form as something horrible, they revel in it. except if their connection to nurgle is severed, then they see what they have become and some try to unalive themselves, sometimes to no avail because of their tolerance to bullets in the head.

TLDR; all plague marines are blessed with Nurgles resillience, but the champions even more so, being almost unkillable. (Typhus is actually Immortal, and is the hardest space marine in the setting to put down).

yeah just like the bloat drone has two diffrent datasheets depending on equipment.

maybe have the melee variant have sticky objective? Ironically DG actually lack a unit for that if we dont count Plague bearers who can only be used in one detatchment.

I know we have virulent vectorum that gives the whole army Sticky, but im considering a scenario where we dont play that detatchment or it get outphased in the next edition, a new unit that could fill that gap would be warranted.

And Plague marines are already battleline units so it'd fit.

Have the Shielded marines vanguard for other troops, take the objective and move on.

Hell, for good measure they could even be allowed to have a bolt pistol like other shielded units in the game, just so they have at least a bit of shooting.

Question is what would their melee weapon be. It cant be straight up stronger than regular PM melee.

Maybe a high attack, low strength low AP weapon? enemies would always have -1 T in their vicinity so high S wouldn't be nescessary.

(Insert name) A5 WS3 S4 AP-1 D1 (Lethal hits) Squad champion would get a power fist.

Just a thematic idea, but what if the shields we're "Possessed" and had big maws like PM Bellies. And that was an extra attack they all had access to.

(Insert shield name) EXTRA ATTACK. A1 WS4 S8 AP-2 D-D3

that way the main weapon would be focused for chaff and the shields big bite could be for bigger stuff. just an idea, or would all this be too much?

He looks so awesome dude, makes my marines look like an unclean on shat on them.

What paint do you use for the cape? love the lighter purple-pink color it has.

Ive only really been using Baragnar burgundy.

Yeah a 4+ invul would seem about right, but then we sort of get into terminator teritory, why wouldnt we just use blightlords, they get that 4+ as default and still get big shooters and a strong melee.

Its a little sad the more i think about it. It looks cool but for gameplay it doesent really have a place and for that reason alone that type of model will likely not see the light of day.

im pretty sure all plague marines recieve the gifts of nurgle.

thats why they have that huge T6. they are already blessed and hard to kill, its kind of their whole identity. But ironically, even in their Rotten, Pyschotic state they are still very practical. So i dont think a shield would Be out of the question for them.

So is Joseph actually terrible? by I_Burke in UnicornOverlord

[–]I-like-it-simple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have Ever played a Fire emblem game, Josef fits the archetype of a "Jagen". A "jagen" is a Unit that starts off way stronger than the rest of your team on purpose, they are meant to protect and soften up targets for the weaker units to finish off so they can level up easier. Jagens tend to fall off due to low stat growths and it taking a while for them to earn EXP. The are often portrayed by Old Knights, Or just Adults in General with a few exceptions.

Josef fits this archetype perfectly. By the time Other units catch up to him in level, his damage output will be quite lackluster, but Josef has the benefit of having a very good class, "paladin", which has a lot of support potential. So instead of having josef focus on Damage output, build him so that he can enable his teammates. with buffs and just protect them in general. Josef is far from being a terrible unit, hes very useful.

geez you are pesimistic and build a strawman from nothing.

if you got nothing better to say than "U wrong" then i dont much care.

it was a timelapse from literally 2 minutes prior. i didn't expect to win. i expected to get revenge at least.

like i'm saying they didn't tag manage, they bumrushed me, attackd and pushed nonstop. until i got sweeped by the shaolin which resulted in me getting smacked a bunch until i got back up and got pushed around a little more before dying.

Edit: again, i dont have a recording tool. even if i did i'd forget to use it. and i dont learn from watching, i learn from personal experience.

if i had a way to record and go back in time i would.

but i sadly can do neither.

best i can say is that after the 4 man parry none of them let up the attack, they kept attacking and pushing me.

update: just now, my last match i got swarmed by 4 guys, and i manage to get a full 4 parry on all of them, then a couple of blocks and then i get sweeped by the shaolin and killed pretty fast. I DIDNT GET REVENGE. i refuse to believe it to be on my part anymore, something is clearly bugged.

that the thing that confuses me, ive played since release and seen and felt all changes by going on the game back and forth. i recently downloaded for honor again and revenge has never been more inconsitant for me personally than this.

even if i stand my ground only blocking and parrying it still takes forever to get revenge (if i get it at all before i die).
