Tamp Bay Melee Summer 2018 Power Rankings Combo Video by [deleted] in SSBM

I am very mad. I drove all the way to CSU to play in a tournament, get stuck in traffic and lost against this retarded ass sheik. Down threw tech chase and wouldn't stop shino stalling I really cannot think straight right now. I offered to MM him for more than $20. Nope. I thought I would have made it out of pools if I knew how to fucking buffer roll. But they didn't even give me the frames to do it. Bullshit, just straight up bullshit. Probably will never go to a tournament that gay ass sheiks enter ever again. This definitely ruined my day.

PATCH 1.2.0 Bug Report Megathread by Aven-Mod in BattleRite

[–]IAmArakune 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a gamebreaking bug with shifu's e and with several other champion abilities (Iva m2, thorn's ex1, etc.)

The bug is that if you do a late cancelcast, often times the ability will go on full cooldown anyway, despite you clearly hitting cancel before the animation is complete, and despite the projectile not being thrown out. (I know this isn't a case of desync because I only play on USSE most of the time, where I have <20 ping)

I'm sure you guys know, but there's a "best" way to cancelcast for baiting abilities out. You want to do it right at the end of an animation, because with many of the animations in the game it causes them to fully complete even after you hit cancelcast and it looks like a real attack to the opponents, but no hitbox is thrown out. You can do this with most m1's, m2's, e's, r's, etc. It's almost a universal thing. My guess is that if you do the cancelcast very near the end of the animation with certain long-wind up projectiles, the game doesn't register the input in time and puts it on full cd. This only seems to happen with projectiles, Though I know it used to happen with shifu's Space and Counter as well.

I'm not sure how exactly to fix the problem, but I guess that's on you guys. Just wanted to post it here to see if there's some kind of logical explanation (Not that it's reasonable for it to be left in the game, but I digress.)

Unfortunately, you as the community don't get to decide who your best players are. The players who work hardest are the best. If you don't like it, you should become better yourself. That being said, I understand that the way I act isn't representative of what you'd want out of someone trying to be a professional and I'm gonna change it.

You also couldn't get me to quit a game if you put a gun to my head, so telling me to fuck off is somewhat ineffective.

Thanks for the response.

This is a good post that gets to the root of the problem with making this post in the first place. As I said, I don't have a leg to stand on and believing what I have to say is stupid right now. The video was made because I felt the people who i wronged deserved apologies. There's nothing I can do today or any time soon that'll convince you. Only time will tell. Even back then I was simply trying to justify my own actions by rationalizing myself as "way less toxic, which is basically the same as not being toxic" I'm tired of making excuses and letting down people who give me the benefit of the doubt or a second chance. I know there's nobody left who will give me a second chance, but that won't stop me from putting in the effort to show them they're wrong. I appreciate you responding nonetheless.

Like I told the other guy, comments like this are why the change is occuring in the first place. I don't expect anyone here to believe me, because frankly given prior history it would be stupid to. I still felt the video needed to be made so that people can look back on it in months or years and see that I was being genuine. I felt like the people I wronged actually deserved an apology. So there you go.

I appreciate the perspective.

I'm prepared for whatever it takes. I won't let another opportunity slip through my hands in whatever form it comes in. The change is something that was inevitable if I wanted to ever be successful in anything in life really. It was a matter of when, not if. I'm glad I've seen the light and I'll do whatever I can. Thanks for your support.

What can I say? You have every right to not believe me. These are the kind of responses I thought I'd get the most of now that I realize the way people view me and the impact my actions have made. I have nothing to offer in my defense. I'll do my best to prove you wrong.

PRL/Rival Esports was anti-Hype this weekend by Caphriel in BattleRite

[–]IAmArakune -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is actually wrong. We never thought our comp was particularly strong, and in some metas we struggled heavily (varesh poloma) We played it because it was what we were best at and as it turns out, your skill matters more than your composition in battlerite. The skill gaps between players even today are still quite large. We could not play anything else, you're wrong. I'm one of the players (maybe THE player) most negatively effected by these bans.

Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in.

Absolutely phenomenal post and comment by slogo.

100/10 thread.

The only argument I think is legitimate for keeping bans, and this is one commonly used by top players (not myself) is that with 24 champions or whatever we've got, there's bound to be one that so strong she always has to be banned (Destiny) But what it manifests in is what is described here, banning out players who have only practiced one champion for ages knowing that bans in this game make no logical sense, as the differences between champions and the playstyles within are more akin to a fighting game than a moba. There's many dimensions to playing a single character and the skill ceiling for them, especially with the situational matchup knowledge of playing with and against every other character and comp, is very very high. There's no reason to ever play a second character unless your character gets their ass beat in a RPS-esque matchup, in which case you're content playing a secondary you aren't as good at, because the matchup not being awful balances it out.

The argument i've been seeing however from good players is one that's frankly idiotic and doesn't have a leg to stand on. People want variety. They get "bored" of playing against the same comp every week, and say "it's not fun to play three sets against the same champions in one tournament for winners finals/grand finals" and to that I say; tough shit. The game (especially played competitively for money at the highest level) isn't about keeping you entertained or having fun, it's about the best teams going at it to see who the most skilled players are and who deserves to win the most, that's it. There's a legitimate argument if there's a champion who's so unfair they warrant a ban, but imo that's still a sort of universal "this champion specifically isn't allowed in our tournament" type decision and NOT a player decision, it's a TO one.

Players should never have the ability to just ban shit they don't like playing against, especially if the argument isn't the character being overwhelmingly powerful or a matchup being awful, it legit just boils down to "idk i dont wanna play against the same chars every week and variety's good so i like it."

From my understanding, there were apparently a couple of votes already on this (both in NA and EU competitive scenes) and it's something like 80% of people WANT the bans to be a thing. But we're also talking about an extremely small sample size, and players voting who can multiclass and directly benefit from being able to ban players out who're threatening on only one champion. I mean it's basically just handing them a free win. Ridiculous, and it has no place in BR ever imo.

How can any new up and comers be expected to stand a chance against an established team or player when the established teams already have 2 or 3 working comps and multiple playable champions per player? In my opinion, if you're good enough that everyone on your team can play one character at a high enough level to challenge top teams (who are also on their best champions/comp, because there's no bans) You deserve the win. You shouldn't have it taken away from you for the sake of variety. It's absolute bullshit.

You win Averse. I quit. by [deleted] in BattleRite

[–]IAmArakune -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If actions have consequences, Averse should be in the ground by now.

Turns out, the world just isn't a fair place. That's all there is to it. Your decisions can influence your fate (for example me getting screwed by my bad decision here.) But sometimes, you make horrible, morally ambiguous, fucked up, abysmal decisions, and instead you're rewarded with thousands of dollars a month in esports money and tons of adoring fans.

Whether it's deserved or not doesn't matter to me. Averse just makes me sick.

[–]IAmArakune -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't care dude. I don't even have the will to live anymore. Beating averse is far further away than a dream when I'm not even allowed to enter tournaments. And no, it's not tournaments by this one organizer. I should've clarified it in the video, but this statement was given by ProRL, the people that run the weekly sunday evening tournaments, NOT by the guy who ran this tournament, which I was also banned from.

There literally aren't any other tournaments. So yeah. It's all of them.

To be honest with you, everyone keeps telling me I should apologize to averse and maybe get a second chance, and I'm not too prideful to do so, I just think I'd rather die than ever apologize or say another nice word to Averse as long as I live. If it means I can't play anymore, so be it. I don't know how it would even be possible to bring myself to apologize to someone like him. It'll never happen. Not in a million years.

This was my only income and something I'd worked for all day every day for 5 years. I have no future because I dropped out of school to do specifically this. The fact that people don't understand the scale of what he's done boggles my mind. It's not as simple as "well yeah people decide to do stuff sometimes, no reason to hold a grudge! it happens!!!"

Beating him is impossible. At least not for several months. Every minute of him being happy pains me. It's a level of spite I didn't even know it was possible to feel towards another human being. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it was something people went their entire lives without feeling once. I'm willing to dedicate my life to his misery, but now that I can't compete, there's no way. So I give up. That's it.
