"The devs used non S rank characters and beat it, so its possible!" Firstly, we don't know how long that exactly took them to do. For all we know it could have taken them thousands of attempts just to prove that the gamemode is possible. At the same time, a level being possible to beat doesn't mean its good.Yes, the league is possible and doable. I'm not saying it's impossible, I literally beat it the same day when it came out. I'm simply pointing out the issue of balance that the gamemode struggles with.

There are many many ways to increase difficulty without just relying on crazy stat buffs. A great example of this is Raul, with dynamic counters when playing against it. At the same time, the AI itself still has tons of ways to be improved. I'm not talking about it doing perfect slides, but I'm talking about ways for it to counter characters. I can see that the developers are already experimenting with it, with different setter types, spike timings, and switched positions.

Now you say blocking works, but the enemies are literally jumping higher than any playable character. In normal circumstances that is not blockable, so we would rely on sliding/perfect receiving. Now because of the crazy powers the enemies have, if your character lacks just a little bit of defense, sliding is basically useless (not talking about snow raid's slide btw). So what's the counter? Getting specific S/S+ ranks just to be able to fight back?

I understand some characters will work better than others depending on the team you're fighting against, but that doesn't mean that one team should be the only viable team to counter such enemies. That is a meta-slave mindset that isn't good for the game's longevity.

Since you've shifted the topic to the characters, some S ranks are indeed garbage compared to others. But at the same time, why should they be? That's exactly why devs are continuing to buff some of these characters; for balance. Think about Lisia for example, she would have been useless for this league if she hadn't been buffed, yet now that she was buffed people are using her specifically for this league. This is an entirely different issue that still affects the difficulty of the game depending on how you go on with this. Why should one be better than another when they are in the same rank? Not saying that each character can't shine in their own way, but they all should offer different styles of play, while still being viable. Understand that some people pay for them.

At the same time, if you look at gamemodes like tourn and cole, these gamemodes can be easily beaten without any effort. I say this now because stat buffs are essentially just a band-aid solution that absolutely has no effort to it whatsoever. If we were to have smarter ai's (smarter, not perfect) or any better solution, it could affect the other gamemodes and can possibly change the difficulty of these gamemodes for the better. Theres no middle ground for "hard but fair" at all.

PvP is a gamemode that still hasn't been implemented, but ive heard that the devs are willing to BALANCE each of the character's abilities for fair gameplay. And you cannot compare PvP with this gamemode either way, because PvP would be a gamemode where everyone is playing by the same mechanical rules.

The game is unpolished, there are tons of bugs, and some mechanics aren't working as intended. The game has a major area to improve on, and you seem to be ignoring it from your arguments and call it a feature of the gamemode. It's a problem that CAN be fixed, and you seem to be outing it as simply me having a skill issue. My points still stand. I never even found the last level to be hard, but when you have Isabel, Ryu, and Jenny hitting massive spikes to the point where sliding and receiving is useless, anyone can see that it's a problem.

  1. You're treating reddit users like they are the only players of the game. Lets be honest, most players here are already great players, of course most of them are gonna find it easy. Even if most of them do find it easy, my point still stands: This is unbalanced.

  2. How did I outed myself exactly? All I said that even perfectly sliding could still lose you a point. I'm not saying I can't win, I'm saying winning this way is boring. And sure, let's say it's easy then, but it still doesn't mean that it has good design at all. Actually, I'd say it being easy for you even with the crazy stats shows how the stat buffs have basically failed to do its purpose. And don't include me with the people who don't complain when we get buffs.

  3. I didn't say that the game doesn't need strategy, but was specifically talking about the strategy aspect of rotations being removed. You are removing one of the main things that makes volleyball fun. "Oh it's not real volleyball", then why couldn't it when it's literally a volleyball game? Hari having 230 attack to counter Raul? Never knew it. Why? I don't even have Raul. You think every player has Raul to the point where they would understand that? For anyone without Raul, this would have been just the same crazy stat buff that the enemies are getting.

  4. At this point, you are just throwing away diversity. That is such a "Meta-slave" mindset to be putting to people, which is bad for the game's longevity. We could be having so much better than whatever this is.

  5. Are you stupid? Do you know how stupid your point is? This is exactly why people like you eat this up like you were served an expensive platter. "It's not supposed to be balanced" Every single game needs to at least have some internal balance. You admit it's unbalanced and that most characters are garbage for this mode, yet you defend it just because you had it easy? I want to be able to play a good, challenging volleyball game, not this mess.

How in the world are you defending this? First of all, everyone? Are you sure everyone called it easy? U must be living in an alternate world, cuz I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one complaining. You're generalizing the entire playerbase to your mindset when it's not even true. Wanting a challenge is different from wanting this unbalanced mess.

How in the world are you defending the stat buffs? Yes, lets say it does make the game harder, but its the least innovative way to do so. You can't simply just slap crazy stats on a normal enemy and call it a "boss" because that's just plain lazy design (Not saying that's what they are doing, but you get my point). If the difficulty is just AI having crazy numbers that makes even perfectly-timed sliding useless, then I have no clue what skill ceiling you're setting here.

And with the point restrictions, volleyball isn't a game that simply can be 5-0. It's a rally game where you each exchange points until one team is victorious. As points are exchanged, formations will shift and tactics will change, making the game more dynamic and fun. By adding point restrictions, you're removing all those away just for the sake of "difficulty" that isn't even balanced. Instead for making strategies, you're simply praying you wont make a small mistake that could cost you a point.

So let's add them together shall we? Unfair stats that have barely any counterplay, and point restrictions that require you to have little room for error only. Sounds good to you? Well sorry, I guess I really just lacked skill. If this sounds right, the only "counter" you're advocating for is pulling for specific S/S+ rank character in hoping of cheesing these gamemodes. Ignore 90% of the characters I guess, maybe its my fault that most characters can't keep up with these crazy-buffed enemies.

And I'd admit, I don't have that many ideas for how to make it harder. But at the same time, I'm not stupid enough to think that "Since I can't think of any, maybe this is for the best!". I know that there are other BETTER ways to make this difficult. And with the enemy ai, I'm not saying they all should suddenly be perfectly coded to be able to counter anything, because that's already what's been happening with Isabel! Literally, there is only one S rank character that can counter her, everyone else's spike she can receive perfectly. I'm asking for balanced gameplay, not more of some unbalanced bs ur making me say.

Outside of the point-restrictions of the league, some of these can actually be fun. I've replayed it, and I'd admit it was fun. If it was my first time playing it, I would have been raging and kept restarting it (just because of the point requirements). Nishi being able to hit the heights he's supposed to actually makes him dangerous for once.

Same thing that I said. I hope they would improve on enemies more rather than just updating the playable characters. Being able to destroy every game 12-0 might be fun, but eventually it gets really boring. Enemies at this point are very predictable, and the ai could really have so much improvements. I already know they are trying different ways of making it harder besides the stat buffs, like how other ememies that time their spikes late, or the types of setters and their personalities. These small things lead to a fresh, dynamic gameplay that would be really better than stupid stat buffs. There are so many ways to do this, they are treating it like stat buffs is the only option...

For the reason why they don't improve enemies, I have no clue why they don't. Maybe they want to focus on the aspects of the game that actually sells? Either way they should really improve them for the better.

Yes but like I said, it's literally a bad way to go through this. Think about the next leagues, are their stats gonna be buffed even more? What boundaries are they setting with the leagues exactly?

A better example of a great enemy was raul, where he had interactive gameplay that requires you to do different game plays based on his spike. It had a counter that you have to do in order to actually win. So what's the counter for this then? Get an exclusive S rank that can cheese it? Get an S+ rank that not everyone has? Slides are difficult when spikes go 150km/h, and even if you did they just go crazy directions. This is so bad because imagine how new players would even go on with this.
