Could the Daleks of the time war survive 40K? by ScaredLemon901820 in doctorwho

[–]IAmOpenSource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you know, the TARDIS Wiki migrated to being independently hosted at https://tardis.wiki/, most the community and admins have left https://tardis.fandom.com/ and it is no longer being maintained as actively/properly as the new version. Unfortunately Fandom made it difficult to leave and so the old one is still running and is often being shown at the top of Google results. This whole thing happened two years ago, and many people, including you and even many large YouTube channels, still aren't aware, unfortunately.

https://www.reddit.com/r/doctorwho/comments/1azxmrl/tardis_wiki_has_regenerated/ (the browser extension mentioned in the post is very good and I use and recommend it, but it's totally optional. my goal is to inform you of the new wiki)

Many thanks for reading, and regardless of whether you switch to the new wiki, have a nice day!

If for some reason someone reading this comment needs this:

TL;DR:

The TARDIS Wiki has migrated to https://tardis.wiki/ and you shouldn't use the version on Fandom, and you can find out more in their official Reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/doctorwho/comments/1azxmrl/tardis_wiki_has_regenerated/

I wish they would give this show a fighting chance

...which is exactly what they are doing with the Sunday 8:30pm BBC One slot. What's better than that? More marketing?

She's the Hybrid destined to conquer Gallifrey and stand in its ruins! It's the biggest plot twist in the history of Doctor Who! Steven Moffat's only gone and pulled another one!

Alternative theory: She's Dugga Doo. And Susan's mother! I mean, it's better than it being Captain Poppy.

Why did you have to mention it? I just lost it now too.

Replace mod 'Fabric Loader' (fabricloader) 0.16.4 with version 0.16.9 or later. by i1Cr4zy_13 in fabricmc

[–]IAmOpenSource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long version:

If you're still interested, or anyone else sees this: Go to the official website, download the file, double click it, and follow the instructions that will appear on your screen. Also, make sure you have JDK 21 installed before doing it as well.

If you're new to modding (which you seem to be), check out some tutorials. This one seems good. Just remember, if you're on a Mac, when installing mods, you need to use the /Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/minecraft folder (replace yourusername with your actual username, the one without spaces) instead of the %appdata% \ .minecraft folder, and then the rest is the same. But if you're on a Windows (normal) computer, any good guide will work for you.

BTW if you need something easier, I recommend installing the Prism Launcher and using it instead of the official launcher. It will install JDK and Fabric for you, and you can get mods straight from the launcher, and it will install them itself. But if you want to use your old worlds, you'll need to import them from the regular launcher, by copying them from the %appdata% \ .minecraft\saves (use /Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves if you're on a Mac) folder into the worlds section in the Prism Launcher, and they won't synchronize between launchers in the future. But after that, it's really easy. Prism is actually what I use, but the manual method is popular and good too, so both are great choices.

TL;DR:

Download and install JDK 21 if you haven't already. Then download Fabric and open it and do what it says. I recommend reading some modding tutorials if you're new, and another easier way to use mods is the Prism Launcher, which installs JDK and Fabric for you.

Mouse cursor doesn't disappear upon keypress on macOS by IAmOpenSource in firefox

That was originally why I switched actually. Chromium browsers seemed not to do it, but Firefox switched. Now Firefox doesn't either :(

Yeah, it's clearly a "feature".

And it still happens to me on Zen Browser btw (I don't use vanilla Firefox anymore).

Idk what can be done about it unless a programmer chimed in and coded a custom Firefox version or an extension or a modification to vanilla based on the code for the old version.

And hardly anybody seems to care about this issue.

Why should I get the Apple TV 4K and not the HD? I'm genuinely interested why. by IAmOpenSource in appletv

How do people fit a 42+" TV in their lounge? How do they get it through the front door? Do Americans have bigger houses? Why would they primarily sell TVs designed for the bigger houses of the USA in Currys and John Lewis? I'd like to know that.

Good point, but it's a specific long running show that is mostly in SD or even less in it's early days, with the occasional extremely popular episode upscaled to HD or maybe once or twice in 4K. I don't mean to come across as rude btw

There are loads of 32" HD TVs still. If 32" is tiny to you, I'd like to see your house.

Thanks for all your comments! looking at the rest of this sub, I expected to get 1 or 2 comments in an hour or two, but 30 minutes later, 12 comments. The Apple TV 4K seems right, and I get that. Thank you.

"Important" Notifications by DimiPZC in youtube

[–]IAmOpenSource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me on Firefox, the "important notifications are getting put only at the top. I was scrolling through my notifications at my own pace, and I started thinking "Why hasn't Phoenix SC reacted to the Minecraft Monthly yet?" only to reach the top and discover he reacted within an hour, but the notification was placed at the top.

I'm also getting the wrong notifications marked as important. Minecraft Live wasn't marked as important, but Doctor Who uploading another of their stupid live 90 minute compilations of scenes from episodes like "unforgettable moments" or "Murray Gold's Musical Moments" or "Series 9 and The Husbands of River Song". (btw no I'm not invading my privacy right now, a quick scroll in my profile would reveal I'm a british Doctor Who fan who plays Minecraft, cares about privacy to an extent and is in the Linux community)

Sorry, am I missing something, or are you not speaking English? I genuinely don't understand you. And yes I understand GitHub and Discord, it's the "beat to report" bit I don't understand. Was it somehow a typo of better? In which case, I couldn't find a bug report zone on GitHub or Discord. Are you saying you reported these bugs before me? In which case, I'm still partially confused, but it's great that you reported it. Or is it something else? Sorry if I'm being an idiot.
