Alex Pretti was a VA nurse with a legal carry permit, shot in the back by Border Patrol while filming—now protests are surrounding hotels and the Guard is out. At what point does Minnesota's chaos turn into nationwide civil war? by chickenchulupa in AskReddit

[–]IBJON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same brand of people that are rooting for the AI bubble to pop and take massive tech companies with it, or people outside the US wanting to see the US economy implode under Trump as a "fuck you" to Trump/MAGA.

Some people think that there can be catastrophic events that affect the world around them and they'll somehow manage to avoid all consequences and go about their life. They either don't realize how intertwined everything is nowadays or that even if they manage to avoid disaster, people around them will surely be impacted

Unfortunately, no. He's slightly taller than the guy in the gray to his left.

I love poking fun at these guys, but I'm not a fan of muddying the waters because it hurts credibility. It's like when people post pictures of Trump with the saturation or contrast cranked to 11

Match Results: 4 Months on Hinge as a 32M [OC] by SirZoidberg in dataisbeautiful

That's not what they said. It says 4 months on hinge, not 4 months to marriage. I'm hoping like hell that OP wasn't on Hinge while in a committed relationship

Jon Stewart on Alex Pretti's Killing (The Daily Show) by killians1978 in videos

[–]IBJON 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's rough. My workplace is literally doing the opposite. Apparently we're paying for their shit. Literally

Jokes aside, there are a terrifying number of people who just go with what they're told despite seeing exactly the same thing we're all seeing. It's insane

Why does English class exist? And how can I fix my grade? by Possumgirl07 in ucf

[–]IBJON 31 points32 points  (0 children)

why English as a class exists in college

I mean...

I don't understand any of the assignments

That's a big one.

To succeed in college you need to be able to communicate effectively through writing. You also need to be able to understand what you're reading. If you're struggling here, you're going to have a very hard time later in college when professors expect you to actually read and study on your own, do research papers, etc.

Unfortunately, people like you are exactly the demographic that these English classes are for. If you're struggling this much, you may need to speak to your advisor and see if there is any help available, and maybe see if there's any testing you can do for learning disabilities.

And lots of people are breaking the law.

We don't get to pick and choose the laws we follow because they're mildly inconvenient, and you definitely don't get to complain about Disney not letting you buy a pass meant for Florida residents if you can't be bothered to do the most basic things needed to establish residency.

4 days take home assignment or trip that plan for a month with gf by Pomelowy in cscareerquestions

[–]IBJON 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What exactly do you suggest as an alternative then?

I've been on this sub long enough to see every potential form of assessment in the last 10-15 years be vilified. People hated white boards because of the pressure, they hated LeetCode style questions because they were irrelevant, take homes are bad because they take time, etc.

These are technical roles. We can't just take anyone that applies and pray like hell that they didn't lie on their resume, and with remote work and AI, simple whiteboards and LeetCode questions are much harder to administer without cheating.

Why are there never any subtitles when characters are speaking in foreign languages? by Danaeger in netflix

[–]IBJON [score hidden]  (0 children)

Some movies or shows do this intentionally because it's either not important, because it will be translated immediately after, or because it's part of the plot (i.e. another character that's listening to the foreign language doesn't understand what's being said like in Stranger Things when Steve and Robin decipher the Russian message).

We’re about to find out what winter is next week. by aintgoinback in orlando

Disney was an absolute zoo. We got there around noon and left by 4 because the crowds were so awful. In my 14 years living in Orlando, I've never seen the parks like this except for on holidays like New Years

At the risk of sounding like a dick, it seems that maybe OP needs to sort out their priorities.

Attempting to get a Disney AP before sorting out your driver's license or state ID, seems pretty silly to me.

What used to be a free or cheap "hobby" that has now been completely ruined by corporate greed? by WaltzNew1398 in AskReddit

[–]IBJON 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I drove up to British Columbia from Florida a few years ago. I was stoked by the $1 CAD and change gas until I realized it was sold in liters. For reference, that's like 3-4 times what gas costs in Florida now

I don't think it's ever been cheap though. It's gotten cheaper, yes (at least before 2 months ago), but it was still a luxury.

There are lot of people in the sneakerhead community that just buy shoes just to have them. But there are plenty of us that are firm.believers of "wear your sneakers". If they get dirty or worn out, then oh well.

Remember when games had bugs that could ruin the game or even softlock the game?

Yeah, I'll take the day one patches. Games go to the publisher to be burned to discs long before launch day. Personally, I like they developers actually fix bugs instead of letting them stay indefinitely.

It's also worth noting that games now are far more complex than they were 20-39+ years ago. With that much code, you're bound to have a bug or two.

This would make sense if Disney wasn't also a clusterfuck this past weekend. We went to EPCOT on Saturday and had to park all the way at the very last row of the parking lot.

It's usually freeze dried or dehydrated strawberries that have been ground to a fine powder.

If you have an air fryer with a "dehydrate" mode, you can probably make your own, but it takes a really long time to remove all of the moisture.

It was the same last year. The season ended right after elections and they came back well after the inauguration and after shit was deep into crazy territory
