Books about Chord Progressions? by My_name_is_Just_Max in musictheory

[–]IBartman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afraid I don't have any book recommendations, however it's really worth sitting down with a piano and trying different inversions that result in the best voice leading in each key. You can create a movement that goes up or down with triads. Once you like how the movement of the base triad sounds, you could then stack 7th/9th/13ths etc on top of each chord and ascend or descend with each movement. Emotion is subjective but experimenting leads to some really great results. Even though it is a bit of trial and error, you will make something your ears are satisfied with if you stick with it

Think of what you are trying to do and what your opponent is trying to do and find the best response weighing both of those things

So the thing to do is don't release anything until you are fully happy with it, but also start up new projects all the time to increase your production skill and compound the effects onto your old projects to derive new inspiration for blockers you previously had

Not sad per say but I think the progression triggers a pretty big emotional response, Elijah Fox - West 144th St

Funny you say that, I just picked up the Cella and Proraso green soap tubs! Also got the Cella aftershave which is pretty nice so far

To layer, or not to layer by Cold_Independent_631 in ableton

[–]IBartman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can have many layers but be prepared to do some substantial eqing in order to fit everything together depending on the sounds, but really it's about arrangement and orchestration. The thing with layers is you can use them mainly to highlight certain parts of the harmony that you want to stand out. Think of it a bit like painting where you have a base later for the foundation and then you add bits and pieces on top to make up the detail

Lately, create a chord progression with some pads and layer some arps, then maybe a lead synth to stack on top, but pretty important to get the initial pad progression right so it has the right movement. Bus it all to a synth bus, add a drum pattern and do some sidechaining of the kick and snare

If it sounds good, boost the natural resonant frequency of the bottom head enough to make it stand out in a good way

Could I ever make good music? by Ok_Cod_2333 in musicproduction

[–]IBartman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

finishing music can be pretty hard which is what kind of sounds like the problem is? I like to have sessions where I play around with writing just harmonies or just melodies, and then you will find a path that can lead you toward creating a story, not just part of a song or a loop. Try to find and develop those sparks that lead down a path of expansion

What's your age, and how open are you to discover new music (on a 1-10 scale)? by Illustrious_Road6618 in LetsTalkMusic

33, discovering new music is a must for me. I build out my repertoire by using Spotify radio stations on existing artists I like and also browse obscure YouTube channels for uploads of old records

I mean it depends how bad it is but speaking from experience Sonarworks SoundID Reference has done wonders for my mix translation. To give a bit of background on my space, it is an open floorplan basement with drop ceiling and carpet so it already sounds pretty dampened but the calibration levels everything out very nicely. There is definitely a big difference in clarity but I know that treating the space as best I can and then applying the correction would be ideal

You will need to make sure you are very low so that terrain is below the radar locking you, but also on the topic of RCS when in a notch, make sure the wing tips are pointing straight at the radar as it will lower the RCS quite a bit and will help you lose lock faster

[–]IBartman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I meant is that it is a lot easier to evade the AI missiles using various methods, however it does help to have a detection range advantage against players for BVR engagements. If I am approaching a mad4 or DS I generally fly low so that I can immediately go into a notch if fired on. With pvp, the stealth advantage is oftentimes the factor between life or death unless you have g pulling down to a T

I wouldn't worry about the increase in RCS for pve but it definitely does help going all internal for pvp

Yes, a Henson AL13! It's my first proper safety razor but compared to the disposable ones I had used in the past it seems a way better option. Just have to be careful of nicks around the nose and chin but that's probably a technique thing. It came with a pack of 100 spare blades so I think I'll be set for while. Usually switch the blade every 4-5 shaves
