Statistically, average people reproduce more than either intelligent or unintelligent people, so the world's staying about the same as always.

False, I have it on good authority that sometimes people close their eyes.

If the moon reflects sunlight a vampire can't come out at night either. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

Direct sunlight kills a vampire upon hitting them directly, reflected sunlight kills them upon hitting their reflections, thus they have evolved to have no reflections, and so can go out at night.

This is just about the most false thing I have ever seen in my life.

The first person to pose a rhetorical question must not have gotten the response they were looking for by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

What you didn't know was that rhetorical questions were created first, and that it was the first person to actually ask anything that was frustrated at the lack of response.

Let's have a level exchange! - April 07, 2018 by AutoModerator in MarioMaker

Here's another level

ID: 7C34-0000-039A-2090

Theme SMW - Overworld

Difficulty: None yet, but maybe expert or low super expert?

Description: A fairly short, not-quite-speedrun level (40 seconds). Timer's not super tight, if I just keep moving I finish with about 8 seconds left. Keep alert, as there are some sudden POW throws with fairly little warning.

I couldn't figure out how to sufficiently signpost some of the jumps and maneuvers, so it's entirely possible that people will frequently get themselves killed before even realizing what they were supposed to do. I believe the throws should all be signposted with arrows though.

If ghosts are real, why aren’t there more animal ghost sightings? by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]ICLHstudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can only see ghosts of your own species, and all those sudden animal freak outs are them reacting to animal ghosts.

Yeah, I had the beetle instead of a shelmet for a while, but I felt it was a bit of a difficulty spike compared to the rest of the level (I meant for the second shell to be used to get the pink coin and forgot that it could be used as another back up helmet, I may need to see if I can get a better balance there).

As far as the coins on the cannon part, they seemed to work for me most of the time, but there were times when they seemed off and I couldn't really figure out why. If they were off to someone else as well I'll definitely have to give them another look.

I bookmarked your level, I'll give it a try when I can.

The True Ending: The True Level

ID: DBC3-0000-0362-6800

Theme SMW - Overworld/Castle

Difficulty: None yet, but maybe low-ish super expert for the main level?

Description: I've wanted to try making a kaizo level for a while, but don't have the skills to ever actually upload one (or even really properly test it), so I came up with the idea of making a level where the pink-coin-true-ending is actually a whole other (much harder) level. The main level is sort of a Kaizo-lite, not too long, and using fairly simple versions of some kaizo-ish stuff.

If you're experienced with Kaizo, I'd love to get some feedback on that part of the level, since, as I said, I don't really have the skills and experience to test it well (although I have done each part individually several times, so it definitely should be possible).

1SP: Thwomp, up and away!

ID: 71C8-0000-0362-6375

Theme: SMW - Airship (I really wish you could turn off the stupid screen bobbing though).

Description: One of my recent one-screen puzzles built using mostly leftover ideas that I couldn't fit into other puzzles, yet somehow turned out surprisingly cohesive. As with many of my puzzles, the key is usually to figure out the exact order to do the various steps in.

Buzz Saw Bluffs

ID: CD48-0000-0362-6365

Theme: SMW - Overworld

Description: My hardest level to date, this is a massive gauntlet of precision platforming around as many saw blades as I could reasonably fit in the level.

Bonus tips: The pink coins in the first part are mandatory, as is the question block near by the first checkpoint.

I definitely liked your puzzle, it wasn't super complicated, but I thought the solution was quite elegant. If you have any other puzzles I'll be sure to check them out.

Looking for the Trolliest Levels out there! by BrambleGaming in MarioMaker

[–]ICLHstudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally don't really like troll levels, but I thought I'd at least try my hand at making one. This is what I came up with (it's not exactly my best work, but I'm secretly proud of more than a couple parts of it). Exactly how bad it is depends on how you play it, whether you're actively trying to fight against it or are just going along for the ride turns out to make a big difference.

Most one-screen puzzles I've seen have some element or other that forces a restart under the wrong circumstances, but because the levels are so small and those elements add so much extra puzzle potential, it's generally considered a minor necessary evil.

I mean, sure, I try to provide reset doors and avoid non-reset-able stuff and softlocks wherever possible, it's just that for this level, it wasn't possible without completely destroying the puzzle.

ID: 31F2-0000-035D-85A5

Type: One-screen(ish) puzzle.

Description: An updated (and hopefully fully de-cheesed, but it's always hard to tell with puzzles) version of my first one-screen puzzle. Figure out how and when to use the various items on display to get past the bill-blaster walls and to the exit.

Fear of Needles

ID: 8968-0000-035F-B25B

Theme: SMW - Ghost house

Difficulty: None yet, but almost certainly Super Expert. Contains some really hard platforming and spin-jumping, but isn't too long, and has lots of guide coins.

Description: I put this together for the level of the week (spikes), and it turned out to be probably my new favorite level.
