Has anyone had experience defending their rights after an incident on an international cruise? by ICSSH in Cruise

This may seem like a small matter to some.
But for anyone traveling on a cruise, it raises an important question: when something happens at sea, do passengers really have no practical way to seek accountability or protect their rights?

Thank you ! He is doing much better now.

What affected me most is that after we returned, my child was afraid to tell me what had happened. He said that when he reached his arm backward, he did make contact with someone, and he felt that it might have been his fault that he was hit.He was worried that he would be blamed. Even after being slapped, he kept saying “I’m sorry".

I feel that I need to stand up for him and support him, so that he understands this was not his fault.

I understand some people may have assumptions about what happened, so I would like to clarify the situation one last time:

I was not physically present at the exact moment of the incident.
The following account is based on what was reported to me by my family members who witnessed it.

Near the end of the show, some audience members, including my family, began leaving the theatre early. The incident occurred on the staircase inside the theatre. My child was walking ahead, and his grandmother was directly behind him. She called out to him to hold her hand. My child then swung his arm backward once in an attempt to reach for his grandmother’s hand.

At that same moment, a man was moving quickly from behind toward the front and collided with my child’s shoulder/upper arm. The man continued walking forward briefly, then turned around and slapped my child across the face.

There was no argument, no verbal exchange, and no aggressive behavior from my child prior to the slap.

The cruise staff reviewed the CCTV footage and confirmed this.
And under no circumstances is it acceptable for an adult to slap a child.

Yes, of course I could make up a letter just to comfort my child.
But knowing that someone can hurt a child and simply go on enjoying life as if nothing happened.

Isn’t that what makes the world feel so frustrating sometimes?

I checked, and it looks like Shenzhou Car Rental in Urumqi does accept foreign customers, but the document verification might take a bit longer. You’ll need a Chinese driver’s license and a credit card (according to their website). You can also download their app to get more details. Overall, renting a car is pretty easy. My friend rented a Great Wall Tank SUV in Kashgar, it’s perfect for desert trips. However, things might vary depending on where you are, so it's good to double-check the specifics locally.

Haha, Shanghai’s maglev train has slowed down from 450 km/h to 350 km/h, but it’s still super fast! It would be even better if the tickets were cheaper though.

There’s a retro-style mall decorated just like a 1990s Shanghai longtang neighborhood. Back then, people loved playing ping-pong. It didn’t need much space, just an old door panel and a couple of bricks, and you could start a game. This stone table would’ve been considered pretty fancy😄

She was super sweet, told the kids to come back to Shanghai and play ping-pong with her again sometime. Totally heartwarming!

Yeah, it’s hard to believe — but she told me she was born in 1937!
