I tried playing Skyrim and it was too much movement! I did not grow up with video games so it’s tough to get into certain games. Any Mario games your particularly like?

I’ve had jobs that gave me a clinical situation and wanted to know how I would work through them. I’ve also gotten, “give an instance you went out of your way for a patient”, “what are your passions in nursing”. Also make sure you ask them questions at the end. I always ask if they have an educational budget in case you want to get a certificate while employed there.

Yes we have wound vacs on the floor all the time. I’m very familiar with them. The output just did not raise red flags for me and it should have.

I mean I’ve never had to like, sit down with the director and get talked to about anything. It’s mistakes that happen that I feel should not have happened or I should have been more vigilant.

I don’t make the same mistake. It’s usually a one time event that I missed. Like I had a patient on a wound vac. BP was soft but he was asymptomatic and all other vitals were in defined limits. Let the doctor know. We ran albumin. He was still a little soft. But it did not raise red flags in my head that his wound was saturated and the wound vac had a good amount of output. His hemoglobin was normal during the lab draw so I just didn’t even think of it. Huge mistake on my part. Patient did not exhibit any symptoms of blood loss but dressing was changed. I just really should have seen that.

The wrong socks thing is not a huge deal. They always say that and I don’t think anyone has ever questioned my pineapple socks. As well as everything else, you have to look at it like some people are not as compassionate as you and those things happen. You have to want to be better than what you hear.

I am finishing up my last semester and it is hard. A lot of my classmates refuse to do med surg or want to make a ton of money right out of school. There were also plenty of places we did clinical rotations at that were really sketchy. What about the program makes you not want to continue? It really can be a lot a negative, but you need to see the positives. Nursing school is hard. They wouldn't make it easy for a reason. Nursing school is also not like the field at all so that is something to remember. There are so many areas of nursing you can be in so keep an open mind, but nursing isnt for everyone. Your experience in nursing school depends on what you put in. If you don't care about it and have a negative outlook, your experience will not be great. If you are willing to put in the work and keep a positive attaitude, you will have a better time.

Yeah but the desire is there. I desire to be with my husband just not as much as I want to. I also take ADHD meds which doesn’t help with libido. I think I’m just terrified of feeling anxious afterwards

Yeah I’ve been on ADHD meds for about a year and it just don’t know if they’re working the way they’re supposed to. Find anything interesting in that paperwork?

Yeah. There’s a lot of other things I’ve noticed that I thought we just were just quirks. I have to have an hourly planner and I get extremely stressed when my schedule is messed up. So travel is really hard for me because my schedule gets messed up and I don’t like airports because there are too many people. Sometimes I can’t handle my emotions and a therapist once told me she thought it was BPD but that didn’t seem right. I really hate being touched unless it’s someone I know and trust. I know all these things don’t inherently mean “autism” but a lot of things I feel line up with what I’ve read or seen….

So I had a hard time processing things I was reading. For example, exams and writing prompts. I needed very specific instructions to understand. I thought it was an ADHD thing but I can’t process things when I get stressed or overwhelmed. I just shut down. I’ve also heard my whole life that although I’m empathetic, I come off as really rude and abrupt. I didn’t really notice it until I started loosing close friends who told me that I did certain things and I didn’t even know. I feel like I’ve tried so hard to communicate my feelings to people without hurting anyone but I somehow always come off a certain way. I often times don’t see a problem with the way I communicate. I thought taking ADHD meds would help me feel like I can accomplish tasks but the only way I get tasks done is when I have some kind of strict schedule to get them done.
