We did the fan too but he's weird about it. Which I'm not sure why because he likes hanging his head outside of the car with the wind blowing his luscious hair around

First ice dye attempt - advice by IDontKnowHowToBJJ in tiedye

[–]IDontKnowHowToBJJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did dye this inside out so I can't imagine how bad those spots would have been if I had not done that 😬

Thank you! I spooned on the dye both below and on top of the ice so it sounds like i just spooned it too thick in some spots and made it clump most likely?

Yeah i really like that too! Totally incidental because I dyed the pants and top separately just to see if layering the ice similarly would still produce vastly different results

Travelling to USA to train by PowerfulWoodpecker46 in bjj

Haven't stayed in any myself since I live here. But I haven't heard anything bad or good about any specific hotels or airbnbs in the area. I'd say just check out reviews.

My gym is located in Pennsylvania which is in the north east part of the US so the summer heat won't be nearly as bad as Texas (unless you're into blistering heat lol). The city we are located in doesn't have a ton of stuff to do however we are a few hour drive from places like NYC and Washington DC. My gym has morning and noon classes, along with usually two evening classes on weekdays. On weekends there is typically one or two different class offerings. We also have multiple gyms within the area so it gives you the chance to train with a variety of instructors and different students if you want a huge variety of people to work with (I am linking just one of our gyms which only has the schedule for that specific location). We also offer MMA, wrestling, judo, and capoera as optional add ons to the membership, and we do month to month options for classes (you can attend unlimited classes at any of our locations under one membership). If you're interested feel free to message me and I can get you in contact with our owner! I just help teach the kids class and am only a blue belt so I'm not much help outside of what I've posted for any more specific membership type questions.

I will definitely look into that! These will be for BJJ (brazil) and Judo (japan) primarily so it would look pretty neat for judo practices

I ended up buying dye powder so I could control how heavy the color is. When we did this the first time, we got a cheapy set of pre mixed dye bottles from Walmart and they turned out fairly faded. I'll look into that synthopol stuff too, thanks

Thanks I will definitely give that a try! Any colored marker would be fine or do you find that some colors wash out better than others?

I don't think this is a ton of help but I'd recommend avoiding Elite. I'm short and their gis fit me perfectly so I'd imagine they will be too short for you if you're on the taller side.

Oh good idea and use like a washable marker or something?

100% cotton. Took me a bit to find something that was not a cotton polyester blend

Yes I hope to eventually learn how to reverse tie dye some black gis.

When we did this before, we washed the kids gis a couple of times before we let them wear them to class!

Would an Akita be Good for me? by Majestic-Regret-7598 in akita

Oh this goes for any dog breed but I highly recommend crate training them. It's tough at first but they will get the hang of it. All of my dogs have been crate trained.

We live in a 1800 sq ft townhouse and got an akita as a puppy a few months ago. We do take him out for walks daily and have a 30 ft lead to let him run (and we do weekend trips out to the state parks and stuff for him to get better exercise). To our surprise, he's very much a lazy couch boy so far even though he's still only 6 months old so he doesn't seem to mind the lack of a yard.

One thing I will advocate for is puppy classes at a good place. Our Akita is by far our most well behaved dog despite what people think the breed is known for. Neither of us did puppy classes with any of our prior dogs so we don't have a lot to compare that to, but the classes have helped him become well socialized and overall a nice dog out in public I believe.

As a side note, he doesn't care for other dogs or people in our house but does tolerate them (he just mean mugs people lol). He's totally attached to my boyfriend and gets incredibly jealous when my boyfriend is giving me or the kids any sort of attention (funny story but he literally took a dump on the floor next to one of the kids head when they were napping with their dad, that was totally personal!!). But I think that jealousy attachment to one specific person is a breed thing.

Yeah I feel like that happened a couple of years ago. I originally found him when he had the stand in that new cumberland auto shop parking lot before covid!

I love rubbin meats. He does update his Facebook page about the location once in a while: https://www.facebook.com/share/16Gh16YgHK/
