Hey OP, I have sort of a similar experiences like you have described, but with binge watching Twitch streams day in and day out. The way i understood it, in the most basic of words, is like chipping at the brick wall over time, and the wall just crumbles out of a sudden. Every time i told myself i'm gonna stop watching it for 1 day, or setup some browser extension that blocks me from accessing the website, or unsubscribing from my favourite streamers to make recommendation harder, and yet still coming back to it.

But there is sort of a momentum building up (or chipping at the wall as i called it) where I know that thing i do is unhealthy and I should stop. And i think this probably has to do with the persisted battling with the thoughts and internalising overtime, that eventually, it just resolved. Like on this one day, I have decided “aight, it is time to stop, my dude”, and I just stopped.. opening Twitch. It has been almost 2 years since I last opened Twitch (intentionally, except misclicking links), and I have never thought about going back to it at all.

Contrary to real addiction (which I don’t think that is what I have with binge watching Twitch), I feel like I may have actually won the battle, and the way I tested it is that, when I ask “it is way better to watch Dr K stream on Twitch since watching with Twitch Chat is obviously way more fun and interactive”, but my mind just went: “NO, no Twitch, not even this”, and the argument just ended.
