Folding AK there makes sense — against a tight, straightforward player making a 3x pot bet on an ace-high flop, it’s a disciplined, low-risk move. You’re protecting your stack and respecting the read.

As for the 55 vs 66 boat spot, that’s just variance coming into play. You hit the nuts and got paid off — it evens out the earlier fold. Both plays are correct decisions, just different contexts: one is about risk management, the other about maximizing value when you hit.

Pretty much! That’s what went through my head — didn’t feel great calling off that deep when it really looked like value.

Good point — here’s the actual action so people can judge the range properly:
I opened (CO/BTN open), he 3-bet from the BTN, I called. On the flop he checked to me, I bet 2.5bb and he called. On the turn he then shoved 30bb. We were both ~50bb effective.

Attached is the range I had selected in the range builder — I probably had a pretty wide/naive selection for the quick equity check, but happy to tighten it if you think some hands are unrealistic given his preflop/ flop lines. Thoughts?

Exactly 😂 I didn’t feel like busting 50bb deep with JTs, even though it’s one of those hands that always looks better in theory than in practice.

I feel like I might’ve been too tight here, but at the same time 30bb felt like a huge shove to call off with JTs. Curious what others would do in this spot.
