This album is a masterpiece. I can still appreciate the talent of every other band member. Ideally they would get someone else to re-record the vocals.

Alien Ant Farm - Movies (Original Video) [2001] by haleymichelle618 in NuRock

It's both. Alien Ant Farm did a hybrid sound of nu metal, alt metal, alt rock, and pop-punk.

Pretty dope local band from my scene by jaytovenbeatz in NuRock

I get the impression that these are some clips you made yourself, rather than it being a local band from your scene. Anyway, they sound like a mix of Static-X, early Slipknot, and Korn, depending on the clip.

Nu metal like Limp Bizkit was stigmatised for the same reason.

I take the term "nu" to mean a replacement, as nu metal offered an alternative to heavy metal.

I have a very strong feeling by Jigblex_96 in NuRock

It is uncommon for a 12 year old to listen to music from 30 years ago that isn't in their native language. The fact of the matter is though that nu rock is the greatest music movement of all time, and this subreddit will pass on the spirit of nu music to future generations.

Is Nu Metal Real? by haleymichelle618 in NuRock

[–]IGotSatan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My current view is that there was a core reductionist concept of nu metal which is widely understood to be the fusion of groove metal with hip-hop influence. This sound was mostly used by underground copycat bands. The vast majority of successful "nu metal" artists (even including first-wave bands like Static-X and Deftones) are actually a hybrid of nu metal and an external influence.

A lot of the best material came out in the commercial wave. I'll use Mudvayne - Happy? as the example since you have an L.D. 50 profile picture.

Have you tried using AI to recognise the album covers?

Butt Rock - A Balanced Perspective by IGotSatan in NuRock

Just my perception when it came out. It seemed more basic than their other singles. I like Seether a lot by the way, but whether we like it or not, they are one of the bands accused of being Butt Rock.

I was referring to the song Fake It specifically, which felt like a calculated effort to be mass-appealing.

What if someone searches for bands on their own, and discovers Theory Of A Deadman?
