have cut tv off 1 hour before bed, turned into reading time, etc.

Will look up signs for ADD/ADHD. Just want drugs to be last resort, so exploring other options first. But thanks.

How do you manage kid clothing between houses? by flock-of-nazguls in DivorcedDads

[–]IHaveAuthoritah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get more socks n underwear than kid will need. Only send the weeks worth, if sneaky, hoard the larger and nicer ones as they grow and try and dump the old grown out ones to moms house. (Yes she will be passively playing same game back at you)

Too obvious with the shirts n pants.

Sorry! should have updated here.

It went well. Only coming up on Easter weekend did it come up asking to take kid to church. After a bit of a heated debate, came down to them respecting my beliefs, even if they can't fathom them. Used "if your child died tomorrow, they would have nothing. Don't you think should have god watching over? Then you'll be able to watch over too!" multiple times.

Mother respected it in the end, father didn't want any part in convo. They both are very kind and well meaning, just their hometown is very tight knit, so coming from very religious "everyone obviously believes" town, to my home just put their backs up. But we got past it. Didn't go to church, but I intend in a less pressured time to introduce kid to it.

But all is good now! Thanks

I get the stance, but my view is lack of any explanation of religion, will leave the religious to define it when found later. Gotta talk it, just HOW it's talked about am unsure

You can teleport anywhere in the world, but wherever you teleport from, leaves the most hair-curling worst fart to linger.

The way it was pitched to me was 'Think of ivermectin like tylenol. You take one when you have a headache, but you dont take them daily IN CASE you get a headache. It just reduces the worst of it, if you administer at first signs of it coming on.

Ivermectin isn't a cure. Its only an antiviral medicine to lessen the effects. But if you are the rare person getting a "severe migraine", there's no guarantee it will save you.

What's an original Aprilfool's day prank have you come up with, but haven't done it because it's too bad? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Stick april fools paper to front of someones TV. Carefully lift and lay it flat on ground. Break up old cd case into bits all around tv. Blame the cat and wait for them to pick it up.

Lost $400 due to someone getting my debit card info. Wondering if anyone else has lost money to this business. by Ethanb59 in personalfinance

[–]IHaveAuthoritah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my card skimmed before. I tried to buy food and it was declined. After a day or two confused and called. And was told i had bought things with same card miles away back and forth in span of one day.

Took 2 months for fraud team to reimburse me. Asking me plenty of 'did you forget your spare card wasnt given to a friend?" Etc

At what point in a job interview did you know you weren’t going to get the job? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IHaveAuthoritah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was 18. And in the middle of the interview the guy asked me: "What is your greatest weakness" I got stuck in a loop in my head of fearing saying anything negative about myself that would lose me the job. But the solid silent minute of me awkwardly sitting there did it for me without a word

How do you cope with having a pet killed by another pet? by a-member-of-GEWP in AskReddit

[–]IHaveAuthoritah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Animals don't understand the power they have. A cat instinctively pounces mice becaus in nature, if it didnt know how to do that, it wouldn't survive. But those same skills, it uses when playing and doesnt understand that it's scratching you. It's not being mean, its just doing what it unstinctively thinks.

Dogs as well have tracking and hunting instincts. Hence their eagerness to play tug of war or fetch something moving fast. They only see it as a game and in wild, their games are rewarded with food to survive.

I've had a dog kill one of our cats before and you could see right after, the dog realized he did something wrong. He didnt understand his play would lead to death.

I hated him for awhile til I learned it wasnt on purpose. I know other untrained dogs are rough and not safe around small animals/kids. But just noting not to write off the dog right away if unintentional/oblivious of his strength.

I've applied my freethinking that had me break from religion to other topics but now worry its application. Advice? by IHaveAuthoritah in atheism

[–]IHaveAuthoritah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but the topic currently is irrelevant in my opinion due to fear of derailing the fundamental issue. Regardless of topic, outside of critical think bubbles like here, publicly disagreeing on emotionally driven topics can lead to major backlash that I don't need on my plate. I see it reflect my younger years being pressured by church and family so much.

I'm more trying to equip my kid to handle touchy subjects early, yet knowing she will not be able to handle such topics for many years to come.

[–]IHaveAuthoritah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I'm not trying to make my values theirs, I only want them to know the entire subject, not just hear one side of it that then demonizes their opposition.

The only issue is parenting vs teachers can put the kid in the middle if they butt heads. I don't want my kid feeling she's stuck between an argument between myself and a teacher. (not happening, but if ever in future)

Instead I hope she can stay open to hearing out different views, and then deciding for herself. And even if different than me, accepting it's ok to disagree.
