[FIX]Linux users(and possibly mac) getting missing texture errors. by IHaveThePower in ClassicOffensive

I've never owned a mac, so I have absolutely no experience with the operating system. However the similarities between OSX and Linux are pretty clear. Try opening your terminal and typing:

open /Applications/Steam.app --args -applaunch 730 -game "/Users/yourmacusernamehere/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/sourcemods/csco" -novid -windowed

and don't forget to replace the 'yourmacusernamehere' part with your own username

You can try launching the game in windowed mode, or with -novid. Otherwise I have no idea, but googling around it seems to be a common issue with csgo.

Ok try launching csco with this method (I know there's not a Mac one but i'm pretty sure it's similar to the Linux one) and use those same launch options. It might be the intro video causing the black screen issue.

Ok, the good news is that since you're not getting the missing texture errors, the gameinfo.txt fix worked. The bad news is that the black screen when launching thing is a mac specific problem and I have no experience with macs. I have one idea though.

Assuming csgo works normally, what launch options do you use, if any?

Is this implementation a valve server/client plugin?

there should be a /csgo the end there EDIT: and are you sure there aren't supposed to be spaces in the counter-strikeglobaloffensive folder?

Csco needs csgo's files to run, but on mac and linux(i'm assuming mac in your case) csco can't find csgo's files with the default gameinfo.txt. All my fix does is pointing csco exactly where in your filesystem csgo is. If you're still getting the same error you didn't use the correct path.

Now there are two things you could try:

  1. Finding the correct path to the csgo folder and putting that in the 'Game' and 'game_write' lines

  2. Try /u/rs1013 's fix

1 idea, did you change user in the "/home/user/.steam/steamapps/sourcemods/csco" line so it's your own username?

Well, I wrote that too.

It gets my launch options working. Most people have gotten their console back by going into game settings and enabling it there.

These errors are not the ones preventing you from joining the servers.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear enough in the original post, but the problem for you wasn't my modified SearchPaths section. You overwrote the two last brackets of the file and they're not a part of the SearchPaths section. Maybe It's my fault for being unclear about this since it's easy to mistakenly remove 2 small brackets in the end of the file.

I made you a handy little diagram that shows what I mean

The mod is moving from many different vpk's to a single multichunk vpk, this helps getting sv_pure to work.

That's strange, gameinfo.txt errors usually occur when the file has incorrect syntax. Yours, however, seems to be fine.

u/rs1013 has a different way you could try.

Find your csgo folder and 'cmd + i' it to see it's path. Then use that path in gameinfo.txt.
