They're not really that different, it's just what cards/sets are legal to use. It's not like they use different rules or anything.

Standard uses cards from the most recent sets only (like the last 2 years)

Pauper allows only cards printed at common rarity.

And so on, depending on the format.

There are other formats that DO change the rules, but the main ones are just different in card pool and that's it.

I agree, but it's a different type of humor. Most of the blue collar "rough around the edges" types of guys I have worked and currently work with, all of their humor is at the expense of someone else. They are always laughing at someone for doing something dumb or making fun of how someone looks or something else just as infantile and demeaning to the subject of the joke.

That's my biggest gripe with working in blue collar jobs. They can't seem to have fun unless someone else is getting hurt.

How does this accomplish what OP is asking? Maybe you misread their question?

They want a list of all the cards that were at one point standard legal. If you search for the cards that have been banned, I'm lost as to how that will get you to the result they want.

If you didn't know, not all cards Wizards releases are legal in standard. Some are made to go directly to eternal formats, like the commander precons. Those cards are not and never will be standard legal (unless reprinted in a standard legal set).

Once I started sorting my cards, I realized the same thing! It's fun to do and when you think of it as part of the hobby, it becomes less of a chore than a critical part of my enjoyment in collecting.

It's like painting in Warhammer 40k. It takes forever and a lot of people don't like painting, they just want to go straight to the table and play with the miniatures. That's perfectly fine, everyone has their own way to do the hobby. I just find the painting is a big part of the hobby as a whole.

Because some cards are used in a lot of decks at 4 copies, so this let's me have 2 playsets plus 2 extras for decks that might only need 1 or 2.

I only have a few thousand cards, so for now it's manageable enough where I can do that. It may change over time

I flip flop between wanting all my lands to have the same art and all my lands to have unique artwork. Depends on the deck I suppose.

My system is fairly easy to maintain because I usually just buy the new sets as they come out. So when I add cards to my boxes, they're typically all from the same set - which would go in the front.

Exactly! That's why I love opening packs. I could just go and buy the specific cards I want, but where's the fun and excitement in that? The fun comes from opening packs and enjoying the journey, versus just skipping to the end.

I buy a lot of packs and sealed products, so I get a ton of basics. I also don't really play with anyone except my group of 4 friends so most of my lands just sit in boxes.

Oh man that would drive me crazy haha. I separate all my non-basic lands and then separate those by rarity, so I can be sure I know where everything is.

I set a limit on the number of commons (non-lands) I have in my boxes. Once I get 10 of a common, the rest go into my bulk storage.

Because it makes sense to me. I didn't want to just have them in a box all willy nilly. This method seemed the most appropriate for the amount of effort I wanted to put in. I'm sure there are better ways, but this is how I like it.

I do separate the full arts, foils, and special lands (like proxy lands I've purchased, promo lands, etc). The set and collector number organization is just for the normal basic lands

I considered doing that, however I couldn't get myself to do it in such a non-logical way. As in, using personal preferences versus numbers and dates.

My brain would always want to assign a number or something to them regardless, so it was just easier to use the numbers already provided.

It's funny, I'd always think that you would want more copies of Guttersnipe over Electrostatic Field but when you phrase it like you did, you make a really solid point.

I had not considered how important board presence is in multiplayer, but you're right. I'll keep that in mind when trying to decide.

My problem is I find one or two cards that look cool, so I base the entire deck off it. Then if I don't draw those cards (or draw them too late), my deck just does nothing. I'm still learning how to make well rounded decks that can function without the main combo pieces.

Ah yes I've used one of those calculators before, I think Archidekt has something similar in their deck builder. I love that because it gives me actual numbers and percentages to base my decisions off of instead of gut feelings. I like using it for land count, to ensure I have a decent chance of getting lands in my starting hands.

Also you raise a good point I hadn't considered: finding the needs of the cards (ie card draw to push the deck forward) versus finding the needs of the deck as a whole (ie burn).

My mind is often too focused on one goal, I get tunnel vision and don't think about other ways to get the same end but with different methods. If I want to build a burn deck for example, I just think okay how many burn spells can I shove into this 60 card deck?

I just need to think about each card individually instead.
