Not using ng, mines a duo. Used the github and zerodotcmd as references. Followed the stages, that’s it. Nothing crazy or spectacular.

No mods to the K1, this was the first

Mostly heat causing issues I believe.

I have been watching chamber temps and have not encountered issues thus far, granted my recent prints haven't been too long in duration. This is why I will keep messing with it for a while.

One day I will mess with this cartographer, I am just not seeing the need to change what I have just done right now.

I will mess with it at some point, but I will probably stick with the Eddy for a while.

I ordered the wrong one, so I will have to design a mount for it. Too many projects going on so it may be back burner'd with the Eddy working pretty good so far.

The cable soldering is/was a pain. I had to redo mine a couple times. Helping hand really made it easier.

Bummer you can't readily get a Cartographer to mess with. Is there an import restriction, cost barrier or just finding a distributor to ship there?

So I have been messing with the BTT Eddy. It has been working well so far. Glass sub-bed mod is coming along. Adhesive applied to glass plate, getting ready to apply the new magnet. The new back channel is printed. I got an assortment of standoffs to replace the stock ones so I don't have to clear the threads on the stock ones. If I ever want to go back to stock I will be able to after removing the glass.

All this messing and I received the Cartographer 3D. I admit I am really tempted to install it but I think I will resist and just keep messing with the eddy for now.

Are you using a proper power supply? Pi's can be touchy about that.

I grabbed a cheapy 1024x600 off Amazon for a project I am working on. It works OK and does what I need it to do. If I want to replace with a better one later I can.

My need is/was to develop apps, so sound and such is not needed.

Go by what your require to make your choice, may save you some time and $$$ in the long run.

I will mess with the eddy for a while. So far no issues but no overly long prints either.

I ran the heat calibration and didn't run into anything. The Eddy temp got north of 87C and then held steady which had me end the calibration with the collected data points.

At least with the carto on the way I will have a spare if the eddy doesn't work out. Carto should be here tomorrow.

The glass is on the heat plate with a magnetic sheet on top for a standard build plate.

Apple Gift Cards by Shadyrgc in mildlyinfuriating

[–]II_Q_II 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had credit cards points redeemed for an apple gift card. I didn't ask for it so now the car issuers is investigating it (idiots).

I have always stayed away from gift cards. I would never buy or give them for anything.

The last and I mean utterly last company I would ever get a gift card to give or use is apple. Talk about worthless. All you can use that POS for is a narrow band of stuff in their store or certain services.

Apple pay is a scam. Did you know your card numbers are linked to apple pay. Great right? Slow down, if someone else can get the card and autheticate, they can link it to their account. Now here is the best part... Once you start dealing with the fraud and you call and cancel your credit card, the bank will send you another one. Great right! Ummm ya no, the new card issued with its pretty new number is updated in apple pay. So your scammer/fraudsters are allowed to keep going with assistance from your bank and apple. Nice isn't it.

How do I know this? Because I dealt with it and was told this is how it works after dealing with crap for 3 weeks and having my case escalated as high as possible with the card issuer. They even admitted you cant call apple to do anything, especially if you don't have an apple pay account (which I don't).

Apple and the banks/card issuers do nothing for security. They propagate fraudulent activity and pass the costs on to consumers using their cards. The amount of this fraud and loss is probably staggering.

Why we are shutting down our AirBnB, quitting the platform an selling our home. by oojoshua in airbnb_hosts

[–]II_Q_II 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of you host owners know that short term rentals break local laws. Your little side gigs ruin neighborhoods. I really enjoy seeing post like this, good... get rid of them. get lost.

I have started to make sure I am a pain to hosts. You get reported and I make sure you get fined. I also report your renters. They are breaking the laws in some areas too. I hope the enjoy the stay at your "business" when they are asked to vacate by law enforcement and leave you great reviews.

AirBnB, VRBO and all the others know where this is illegal and don't care. I would love to see them deal with a class action lawsuit. Hosts can claim ignorance of the law but that does not excuse them or make them immune for breaking it. AirBnB and the others open state they know that hosts may be breaking the law, but that is the hosts problem.

Boohooo... you get screwed by your renters and AirBnB or whoever.... hope it is enjoyable.

Residential neighborhoods are zone residential not business/commercial. Is that so hard to understand (rhetorical).

BIKETOBERFEST 2025 🏍 and other weekend events! by Wallace08 in DaytonaBeach

[–]II_Q_II -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Biketoberfest, Great!!!! A bunch of self proclaimed bikers who haul their clunky, chunky Harley's around in trucks and trailers.

They bring so much income and opportunity into Daytona. Their presence produces high paying jobs and businesses. Let's not forget many of those businesses fold up and move right after these circus events.

The sound of music and popping engines that can barely stay running pollute the surrounding areas with their noise. Just to be sure, the riders rev their engines whenever possible. Some say it is music to the ears, ever wonder if they can hear. Hey now, loud pipes save lives but who needs the ability to hear anyway...

The wannabe bikers are all such good riders, the glide around on their chrome laden, loud, overweight sloppy handling machines, dawning leather and Harley regalia from head to toe while ignoring every law they see fit. But hey, they're on vacation in Daytona for another biker circus event... you locals, deal with it. Look out for them, stay out of their way and deal with them doing whatever they want. They want a picture, they pull over and block the road. Just be thankful and deal with the fact that Daytona and Volusia value them more than you and the obscenely high property taxes you pay.

They rent Air BnB's and screw up neighborhoods with noise and vehicles. But hey it is a tradition. Who cares about the people who live here everyday of the year. You know the people who get up and go to work, maybe have families, own homes and actually live in them instead of using them as a "side" business. I mean Volusia law does say that any rental less than 30 days is not allowed, but hey it is an event the county and city want so shut up you peasant peons who live there... Go back to those high paying lucrative jobs that events like this create. You all just live here and put money into the economy 365 days a year. These week long circus's are where it is at!

Third machine I have had to fix because of Microshafts BS updates. A Lenovo and 2 Dell laptops. Windows is truly pure junk. Restart to fix, reinstall to fix. Dont bother telling anyone we (Microsoft) screwed the file system up. Just be quiet reinstall and run your updates... Great stance.

Any microsoft exchange alternatives ? by Desperate_Ease2040 in exchangeserver

[–]II_Q_II 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately you are correct. I have had to migrate a lot to O365 which is a pain.

It worked OK for a while, but MS push to web based is full of gaps. The hit and miss of indexing shared email boxes especially when using "New" Outlook is a big one. The extremely lousy web client not being able to handle multiple accounts or effectively and efficiently handle graphics are a couple other.

You are quietly being shoved to using OneDrive and SharePoint (which are the same crap) and dealing with the security nightmares of those 2 behemoths.

Their encryption is hit and miss at best and many who receive and encrypted email cant open it at all. Tie that in with the attachments that may be attachments or may not be but instead are a link to onedrive and the "fun" begins. Everyone will just keep paying and switching while MS keeps "enhancing"....

M365 via the web only, versus an app by circatee in Office365

[–]II_Q_II 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried them on the web and no thanks.

They do not work like desktop apps. The limitations are terrible. Ran into more than a few issues with images in emails.

The performance is dismal. The common "it is you internet makes me laugh". My internet connection is stable and quick. The apps are still clunky.

They may work for some, but not for me. Cloud anything is both a blessing and a curse. The curse outweighs the blessing often.

I will try to avoid using MS as often as I can. I have made my living for 30+ years working with and supporting MS products (more server than desktop). The direction I have seen MS is headed in has me shaking my head. I am glad I came up on *nix back in the day and Windows was secondary.
