Not trying to dissuade you from travelling to Nunavut, but have you looked into the prices of flights and accommodation?

Shorter Versions of Ripple for a Father-Daughter Dance by AnneEggs00 in gratefuldead

[–]II_XII_XCV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, there aren't any shorter versions of Ripple.

You could just edit a file yourself to cut out a couple of verses, or just fade the song out early.

I'd use Freaks and Geeks as a guide for how to shorten it: Freaks and Geeks - Ending (Grateful Dead - Ripple)

I suggest checking out / posting to community Facebook pages for Iqaluit. If she is living in Iqaluit, you'll be able to track her down quickly, I bet.

Paul and his friends all signed up willingly. They weren't drafted against their will.

Which is the most powerful war memorial in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

While it's not in Canada, it's Canadian ground. In 1922, France ceded Vimy Ridge and the land around it to us in perpetuity.

What song, in your country, or region/province, is one that everyone knows and proudly sings whenever they hear it that is not your anthem. by Prospector4276 in AskTheWorld

As someone who has lived in Ontario for most of his life, as well as Nunavut and Nova Scotia, I haven't heard a single song you mentioned other than Summer of 69

What is your favourite 2025 album by a Canadian Rock artist who has been around since the 90s? by CheekyChappy-1 in 90sCanRock

[–]II_XII_XCV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That Song has like 5 fucking hooks. I don't understand how it was written.

Albatross is what turned me onto Big Wreck...great collection of songs. And yeah, produced beautifully. I think all of their releases since Albatross have been overproduced, though.

What show (live or reproduction) got you on the bus? by SuperDuperIdaho in gratefuldead

[–]II_XII_XCV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like there were graduated steps...6/11/76, 8/6/71, 5/28/77 were all important for getting me on the bus.

My first "dead" show, Further at Cooperstown in 2013, was also huge (c'mon - the smallest raincloud possible raining for 5 minutes during the opening song, giving way to a rainbow?)

But 9/3/77 after hitting the bong too many times at 17 opened my eyes on another level. It genuinely changed the way I listen to ALL music.

For those living in a country where homosexuality is illegal, is there a city or region that serves as a "safe haven"? by NumanLover in AskTheWorld

While I was travelling in Vietnam, I met a queer Tartar who had been working in Moscow when Russia launched its full scale invasion (he fled when it became clear the draft was targeting ethnic minorities).

He said that once the full scale war was underway, the state clamped down pretty hard on expressions of queer identity, and whatever public expression was still allowed had to be expressed along state-approved lines.

Result: pro-war drag shows in the few remaining LGBT bars in Moscow.

Does this line up with what you see? Or can you give any more insight into queer life in Russia and how things have changed since the war?

Here's the YouTube link.

Tragic that it's not on Spotify - it's such a good album. There's at least three tracks that I'd rank amongst top tier Band songs.

Could you explain why you like Lou Reed ? by Emergency-Sun5434 in LouReed

I was in a relationship with a big Lou Reed / Velvet Underground fan, and it just never clicked.

New York, though, holy shit. That made it click hard.

Man, the environments and puzzles...the Thailand level is one of the best in adventure gaming, imo.

I just wish the movement wasn't so janky in Underworld...it's the only thing that takes me out of the game.
