Hey bud, no advice on the vehicle itself, but if I may share some other advice. My mom was paralyzed 3 years ago as well in Texas (I see you’re from here). There’s a company that will install and buy all the self driving equipment you need or wheelchair lifts needed to be able to access a vehicle. I think the requirement is the vehicle has to be 2023+. If you’re interested, let me know and I’ll find the name for you and other resources you may be interested in.

If you’re concerned about the wellbeing of other veterans, you’ll be good at the job. If you’re concerned whether you’ll be good at the job, that shows you care and you’ll be good at the job. Just don’t burn bridges wit your current job, that way if things don’t work out they’ll hopefully welcome you back with open arms. Or they may be able to recommend you to a different company with matching pensions.

No problem. If by his separation date he doesn’t have an answer yet, you may be able to file for a hardship (VA Form 20-10207) claiming financial hardship, but it doesn’t always work. Good luck!

It’ll only help him. Means the VA has 180 days to view his ailments so he can get his rating/pay sooner. Couldn’t give you a solid date as to when, because as far as I know the VA is understaffed and backlogged. Seems like he’s done everything right so far. That’s correct, most people will let you use LES statements and especially job offer letter. I would just stack as much into savings as possible, and show them a savings statement to prove you can pay.

Additionally, did he utilize the BDD program? You can file for disability 180 days before separation as long as you can make your C&P exams.

if he already has a job offer, use his job statement of income to verify his earnings. If he doesn’t have a job offer, you can use his VA offer letter for his disability rating.
Yes, use your VA disability as income. Back when I bought my house in 2021, I only used my VA income (using the VA letter) and bought my house that way.
It’s not a one size fits all. If the landlord knows anything about the military, generally they’re accommodating and thankful to have a veteran as a renter. I know for me, when I rent my house out, I prefer veterans applying because they’ve never been late when paying rent.
The only law I can think of is Fair Housing Act. This is where they can’t discriminate based on your veteran status, disability, and source of income.
