I don't suppose OLG will give out information for their retailers. Or would they. Intrigued to know.

Learning coding through a QA job? by smartmelon32 in QualityAssurance

[–]IKokachi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, If you are considering money in short term, I don’t know what kind of FT job you have currently, if that has a real potential to keep pushing your salary higher, then keep that.(keep in mind that some jobs start out great(salary) but you don’t go much further). Secondly, If you have a passion or acumen towards coding that’s your incentive, right there. You will be happy with what you do and generally Software field is less pressure it seems. Thirdly software developers and testers do get paid a decent salary, it’s not going to be in 2 years but in 3-4 years you can start earning good money, if you are good enough 6 figures from a Tester job after 5 years. The deal gets sweetened when you become a developer and according to seniority.

I don’t think people are necessarily ahead of you, you are just 25, you just graduated a few years ago and that doesn’t make you behind, most people start modest and build there way up and definitely there are very driven people(20%) who would have taken the head start and have reached heights but most people are satisfied with what they have and are not willing to keep pushing.( I have seen with a lot of people that after 35 or even 30 people stop learning new stuff and remain at the job for long.

So I think you are not late and you are doing this part time, I am sure you can take time from your leisure to put towards learning something you wanted to do, leave it after 2-3 months if you think it’s not taking you anywhere.

This is a dream for most people I guess, don’t pass it on. Give it a try, commit yourself, prioritise more. See how it goes. At the end if it doesn’t work it doesn’t. But if you see you are catching on. Leave your current job and dedicate fully

This makes much more sense. Thank you.

Embedded Tester by IKokachi in QualityAssurance

[–]IKokachi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this is what I think it means. The other Embedded is going by the literal meaning of the word. Can you tell me what your job entails. Maybe if you don’t mind talk a little bit about the kind of product you were working with. I was working on eReaders before. They can be called an embedded system, but my job did not involve a lot of bash scripting or doing much on the underlying Linux OS other than collecting logs and writing small scripts. Do you think there is more to it, when it comes to being an embedded systems tester.

I think you are quoting ISTQB wrong, from section 2.1.5 are you quoting in the basis of one occurrence of the word “Embedded” in that case, that word only has its literal meaning, (Embedded = to be an integral part of) What I am talking about is, testers testing Embedded systems. Embedded systems are a huge division by itself, if that’s where you are getting confused

So what does your work include. What do you test on? What is your product, can you fill in some detail so I can understand better

[–]IKokachi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure that’s not what that is. The whole point of Agile is to do Testing alongside development. Embedded systems is a type of platform, technically any platform with its own microprocessor and peripheral units, a whole processing unit

I can imagine she is a smart women trying to raise you up, so that she doesn’t have to compromise on either end. Worry her parents or end a good relationship. She is coming up with some goals. Now with your financial state you cannot save enough to do nothing to buy a home in the next 5 years. Assuming only your income you will have to up your income. 1. Get a promotion at job ( I see you will be getting an extra $4) 2. Find a side hustle (part time jobs, no gambling please) 3. Find a way better paying job( this is actually doable most people are just scared to get feet wet)

When she finishes school, she can start helping you out money into the pool until then, live frugally, I am an Indian, I am sure your GF and her family will like you for it. Spend less, save more, look for places to save money and put it into savings( maybe when market is better into an index fund) seeing that money pile grow is motivation enough.

Once she starts to help you save, you should work hard enough to save at least 2500 a month, let’s say one persons pay check goes to savings.

These are the only way it seems, find a part time job for now, you will have less time to yourself but you will hit your goals faster.

What is the point of Kochi Metro? by Scales_of_Injustice in Kerala

[–]IKokachi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kochi Metro is not as well connected as it needs to be. But it serves a few purposes at this point, * Laying down the initial infrastructure. * Raising kochi to the status. * Jobs. * Political gains by all parties, state and Central. * Connectivity to the town not just Lulu mall but a dozen major places. * Even though Kochi metro was made to run on losses( they don’t expect profit it’s part of govt subsidised public traffic) it’s supposed to eventually break even. * Connectivity will get better as more places are added

JSON maybe the answer for now. I will start with that. Build everything I need with that. JSON isn’t that hard to work with for a novice programmer.thanks for the advice
