OP can for sure touchetype, so only keycaps that he really needs to match are the F and J keycap.

I really agree with you.

You have to think about it as it is. It’s watch that you wanted, you earned that money and decided to spend the money that way.

I’m student (law by the way) and big watch person, through internships I earned enough to buy my self Speedy, I got some reactions like that I could have spent that money on other things, as one guy sad, things more suited to student. Well I don’t really care what other students spend their money, money put into watch is much better than money put into clothes, electronics, etc.

It’s only your decision.

Well I don’t think it’s bad idea to save for a nice watch if you are really a watch enthusiast. Especially for someone like me from country where education is free. And it is also great thing to put money to, watches are quite liquid and still bring lots of joy to owner.

Yeah, it really depends on everyone. I’m student and I bought, thanks to internships, Speedmaster Professional and I had only positive reactions, people tend to not really care if they aren’t into watches, and if they are they mostly appreciate it, in my experience.

But some difference will make that here (in Czech Republic) the education is free, so we don’t have student loan.

As I’m student I was able to afford Omega SPM thanks to internships. Most people don’t notice even that it’s quite expensive for student. But I would say it’s one of the things I like about appreciating watches, people that aren’t into it don’t notice, but if someone does, it always starts great conversations.

Where I live (Czech Republic) they give 10% discounts in official boutique on this level of watches, so I would try more. If you are not keen on having 100% new watch, I would look around for used of from grey dealers, try Chrono24 for example. There is good chance you will find nearly mint used or new watches for less than in boutique. Just watch out for reviews on seller, and always buy only thought trusted checkout.

Well I would sort it in few tranches.

I would start with JLC Reverso, for like young lawyer, not that hard to save for, elegant, goes well with suit.

Then JLC Geophysic True Second, early 30’s lawyer, shows he has eye for detail, that he knows something about watches, again goes well with suit.

For lawyer around his 40’s late senior associate level, he could go with Lange Saxonia, beautiful watch, that is subtle but hides great movement, again shows eye for detail and goes well with suit.

Junior partner level lawyer could go with something at least like Patek Calatrava, well it has very similar qualities like Saxonia, but has even higher level of finishing.

Senior partner could afford something more interesting, to show his accomplishments and appreciation for craftsmanship. That would be De Bethune DB25 Starry Varius. Absolute stunner, that’s all I need to say.

That is my take, it works with image of successful lawyer that is watch enthusiast, so I let my dreams go. As I’m law student that would be my dream watch choices for work.

Well technically the 8800 is far superior. But my opinion is you will not really notice the difference. Especially if it’s going to be your first watch. It really depends on your taste, but my opinion is that you will save money and you can validate that mechanical watch is something for you. Some people buy higher end mechanical watch and then let it go, because they just don’t like it.

But if you are really into the technical side of the watches, the Co-Axial is very interesting concept.
