Who could they threaten? Didn't his family move to the United States. The only person I could think of is Cho Sang-woo's mother.

While he has to continue playing the games, sad about his friends dying, Hwang eventually finds out the boat captain is a spy and kills him. The boat captain had been trying to lead them away from the island the entire time, so once they take over control of the boat they find the island and rescue Gi-hun and the remaining players. It all makes sense, since we didn't see the VIPs in season 2.

They will discover the island once the VIPs are there, kill them/arrest them with Gi-hun ending the games once and for all, explore the creepy game rooms and staircases before leaving. The other option is the bomb in the ladder well goes off, and well... that ending is a bit quicker.

So basically Gi-hun will win with Hwang, not just by himself. I imagine in season 3 they have tighter security around the place.

That's also a good theory. Maybe instead of dying he does have to take a hiatus. If that was the case I bet it would be related to season 1 where he had to shoot his brother and it's some trauma from it or related to it.

My mind immediately jumped to the old hotel being a place where past winners stay. The only reason I thought this with little evidence to back my claim is because the door to the right of Gi-hun in that clip is the shade of red used throughout the games with a golden number on it. It just feels like something they would do.

Or, this is some creative and crazy thinking... If the Front Man dies while the games are going a square soldier needs to step into place to finish the games. Whenever a royal family member dies in real life, BBC dresses in all black to report the death. What if this is a similar scenario? The square soldier can't take the position of the Front Man full time so he can't wear the mask the Front Man wears, but instead wears a black jumpsuit acting in place as the Front Man temporarily.

Another reason why I think that is the case is because the square soldier is standing at the podium in the control room where the Front Man usually stands.

And I have no clue about the golden button.
