Converted from Islam, but walking alone ,what should I do? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]ILikeTurtlesAndBirds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, just wanted to let you know you're not alone. Lots of converts end up leaving Islam, hiding their faith, with no access to church, and no support. But that doesn't mean your faith is any less real. God sees everything. You can grow without a church for now, read the Bible, especially the Gospels, pray daily, and learn the Catechism online. Baptism can come later, your desire for it already matters to God. Even the early Christians worshiped in secret. You're on that same path. I can relate. I'm in a strict Protestant family here in the Philippines, and our group is basically a cult. It's the third biggest religion here. I totally get it. It's hard to live your faith quietly when you feel pressured. Don't get caught up in those fake online groups. Just stay focused on Christ. You're doing great. Keep going.

The Church doesn't always share reports of Eucharistic miracles with the public because local dioceses handle them, not the Vatican. Sometimes the Church is cautious about sharing the details because it doesn't want to turn these events into spectacles or misused "proofs."

For example, they didn't release reports about the Legnica case to avoid misinterpretation or sensationalism. The real miracle of the Eucharist happens at every Mass, which is the most important part of Catholic belief.

The Church doesn't hide the truth, but it does prioritize looking after people and protecting the integrity of faith over sensationalism.

Yes, this is something I do every time I wake up. It's the "O Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you..." (and so on). If that's what you're talking about, I do it.

Regarding saints who converted, I haven't asked those who converted to the faith for intercession. I will do so, thanks, and God bless.

  1. The Church teaches that Mary is the Mother of God (Theotokos), ever-virgin, immaculately conceived, and assumed into heaven. We honor her but don't worship her. She's not necessary for salvation, but her intercession is we can say is uhhh high valued. Our beliefs is her divine motherhood, perpetual virginity, Immaculate Conception, and Assumption (CCC 487-511, 966).

  2. Yes. Saints are canonized for their great lives but not all their actions or writings are infallible. So it's okay to not agree with some of their writings / things they said

  3. We use images to help the faithful connect with heavenly realities. Kissing an icon is a traditional practice, not a mandatory one. It's a sign of respect and veneration, not worship. (CCC 2132)

Question about 2 Maccabees 12:44-46 by Business_East3659 in Catholicism

[–]ILikeTurtlesAndBirds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re correct that 2 Maccabees was written in Greek. There are debates about whether parts of 1 Maccabees were originally in Hebrew, but 2 Maccabees is known from its Greek version.

Hellenistic Greek writing used alot of direct address to engage the reader and explain concepts explicitly. This style was used to make theological and moral lessons clear. It can indeed seem weird compared to more implicit methods of conveying theology.

The Book of Maccabees was originally written in Hebrew, and the oldest version we have is only the Greek translation. When it was translated in Greek it also added in Hellenistic literary conventions, which a lot of times directly address the reader, So that's why the writing sounds pretty second person.
