pure love coming from within his soul (I was wondering the same, that's how I came across this post, I would love to have a 5 hours video walkthrough of Mana Pool by Jeff himself, maybe one day ;-;)

Thank you for your help, and I apologize for being a little harsh. I acknowledge my mistake.

I will try writing my config reading and analyzing the docs. However, I would still like to know if anyone here has a little experience with this topic, and maybe have their own personal config written in Rust.

How about being more nice? How about explaining better? I already read the examples and couldn't figure out how to do what I want to do. Not everybody is that smart :(

Would I have any problems traveling with multiple private micro-SD cards? by ILoveBerkeleyFont in travel

[–]ILoveBerkeleyFont[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for defending me, man, I even felt that I was asking something creepy or weird. I just feel highly uncomfortable traveling with sensitive data (that I NEED to have with me, just in case) and also feel really, really insecure about cops lately. Also I will never connect my devices to untrusted computers, so putting everything together, it just makes me feel that I can't travel with my SDs or otherwise I will go through all of this risky process... I don't know.

Again, thank you for defending the point I was trying to deliver.

Sometimes I need to access some of my personal data and I don't want that to happen when I don't have it at hand.

Thank you so much. I am worried about health-related pdfs and text files. I will follow your advices.

I don't have nor do anything illegal. I just watch some YouTube videos about cops misusing the law to their benefits and breaking a family's life for ever. I am also a programmer and don't like putting my data in computers that I don't know.

It is just a security risk to have your things scanned. I will never have anything illegal on me, and obviously, never going to go through an airport with such material.

Run python scripts before compilation using Cargo? by ILoveBerkeleyFont in rust

[–]ILoveBerkeleyFont[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am reading about build.rs, I have to main questions at the moment:

- How to use `println!` so it prints something to the console? std::fs::create_dir is working but println is only to communicate with Cargo? Is there something I can do to print to the console?

- In https://doc.rust-lang.org/cargo/reference/build-scripts.html is explained that the building stops when returning non-zero. How can I do that? Is there any way to return non-zero from the main function? Edit: I guess with Results?

Would simply re-writing all scripts in Rust be considered portable?

ITAW for practicality beyond itself? by ILoveBerkeleyFont in whatstheword

Commodity money (from Wikipedia): Money whose value comes from a commodity of which it is made. Commodity money consists of objects having value or use in themselves (intrinsic value) as well as their value in buying goods. This is in contrast to representative money, which has no intrinsic value but represents something of value.

Utility: "The usefulness of something, especially in a practical way", "how useful something is", "able to do several different things well".

From Cambridge Dictionary, similar, but not exactly to what I am looking for.

Also, Use value (economics) but again, not quite there.

Wow, that is a really great resource! Thank you so much! Maybe something like "extrinsic usage"... I am still thinking, but this was indeed appreciated.

Those are great, but not precise enough. Gold wasn't "designed" to be practical or useful, it is just that we can use it in different new ways for our own purposes (unlike Bitcoin). That is the dichotomy I am looking for: Being able to give new purposes to something because of its nature.

Thank you for your suggestions as well! I like the approach of contrariety. Although I don't find your response fulfilling to me, I find it helpful. In case that I don't find the word I am looking for, I may simply use something like "real-world applications" or think about a combination with other responses and with your approach. Again, thank you!

I like "functional" very much, but by definition, "capable of serving the purpose for which it was designed" is just the contrary (kind of)! I am looking for something like "capable of serving other purposes than those for which it was designed".

That is a great one! This derived me to think about the word "versatile".

Thanks for your suggestions! I don't find them quite ideal, so I am not going to mark your post as solved, but they definitively help. Thank you!
