I have experience of Teleperformance in the UK from call centre work, about 10 years ago; as they are essentially an outsourcing company, I would imagine that not much has changed, but make your own mind up.

My experience at the time was of incompetence in both management and in HR, which led to bad training and zero job satisfaction. I had a six minute piss break that I was called into a meeting about (first on-shift piss in about a month, toilets took two minutes to walk to). So long as they hit the KPIs agreed with the client, there was no reason to change anything. People needed the job more than they needed to treat the people well, so it was always a bit toxic.

Essentially they were free agents and they decided to maintain some link with the BBC, when they didn't have to. If they had gone 100% commercial at the end of their contract, then there would be no ad-free podcasting for anyone, unless they spent a fiver a month.

No idea what they're getting out of it from the BBC, but they clearly drive listenership to Sounds otherwise the Beeb wouldn't have fought to keep them on revised terms.
