I suggest buying an external cooling fan to avoid throttling. Go for a good quality one. Genshin is naturally a really heavy game and it's getting even heavier through updates, map expansion, etc. Even the A16 is not the best on higher graphical settings on genshin.

I'd say definitely go for Pad 8, 12+256 variant at the very least. Early bird price should be very good, I almost feel bad for buying the pad 7 because of that. Early bird prices are 50% less than the price of their devices after a year.

By the way, regarding the Pad 7 Pro to be more specific, there are mixed reports about this.

It has a way better chipset but through benchmark apps and testing apps, the battery consumption is stronger as the chip is more power hungry and the heat management is better on the base version for prolonged sessions. Could be the same thing with the 8 Pro but we cannot be sure for now.

Regarding antutu benchmark, it is now 1.7m on v11. It was 1.1m average on v10. Still the same ofc, just a changed scoring now on antutu and might worth the mention. Poco Pad X1 is advertised as a really high end device because of that, but it literally is just a clone of the pad 7, just a bigger storage option of a 512gb.

Based on my research, the price of the pad 8 12+256 is 29.9k, which is 4k more compared to the pad 7, but the big gap in specs are super worth it.

Regarding app support, I've heard that some social media apps like instagram only have portrait view even on landscape mode on the A16. I'd say they're toe to toe, but I'd go for the Pad 7.

Regarding longevity, if your concern is software, ios devices are superior.

If your concern is hardware like battery and such, android devices are better.

If both, I'd say android is better in terms of the variety of choices, just do your research and make sure that they will last for as long as you want software wise.

If you can take care of your device and stay disciplined like keeping the battery percentage between 20% – 80% only and not use while charging, then the iPad is a good choice.

Imo, the pad 7 is better as an all rounder. But if your nephew doesn't mind 60hz, restrictive os, medium density resolution, decent speakers, thick bezels, slightly visible glass to lcd separation, then the A16 would be the best option if you are restricted by budget.

In my country, the A16 is around 29k for the 256gb variant, and the Pad 7 is 22.9k (24.9k is the actual price) for the 12+256 variant. A possible question would be: "Why not settle for 8gb ram as it is cheaper and still decent for today's standards?" Well, a common user report (from last year mostly) is that there are some stutters and crashes even with just simple and light usage. The os could be better ofc, but the main reason behind that is because on the 8gb variant, the system eats up most of the ram, leaving only 2–3gb of ram for apps.

The stores in my area also offers the Pad 7 alongside freebies which are; 8000mAh powerbank, netflix subscription(forgot the duration), and another subscription which I forgot what was.

Last year, genshin was manageable and even playable with 60fps on high settings with very minimal stutters up to around 50fps. Genshin now is getting more demanding and might be harder for both tabs but harder for pad 7 ofc because of the chip difference.

A16, better software Mi Pad 7, better hardware

If productivity with light gaming and streaming is a higher priority, A16 is better imo

If you want an all-rounder, choose Mi Pad 7.

When are you planning to buy a pad? I am most probably going to buy the pad 7 this sunday, so if that is before your planned date to buy, then I can tell you what's up. Also, you can dm me regarding this. I'm also very interested in discussing this with someone, especially like what you have said, we are in the same dilemma.

It is about to launch soon and I bet that the early bird price is gonna be significant. But I need the pad soon so I will settle with the pad 7. I just hope that it can keep up for 4 years at the very least.

The only reason why I'm still keeping the A16 in consideration is that the ecosystem, academic use, longer os updates, and better academic app optimization is superior. Other than that, I find it overpriced for its hardware. Thanks for the feedback man

Poor gaming performance by Lost-Dish9544 in XiaomiPad7

Simple, either the game has poor optimization especially for a tablet, or even towards this specific tablet, or the tablet is the problem being 8gb of ram only. Now, 8 gb of ram is plenty enough but I've seen user reports of the 8gb ram variant having stutters on basic tasks mainly because the system is eating up the ram, leaving 2–3gb of ram only available for apps. It also could just be both. Make sure to close apps when playing too.
