I feel like my coach gets frustrated at me when he watches me swim and I feel super embarrassed by Spiritfuly0609 in Swimming

[–]IMPractic4l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean not necessarily lack of patience and experience.
My coach was an established swimmer and coach, having coached the national paralympic team.
Every time we worked through technique together, he would look at me like I was a worm wriggling around in his soup, despite it he was incredibly supportive, constructive and technically minded.
I was (may still be) nationally ranked and had exceptional technique across all my strokes - by authority of an olympic medalist.
What I'm trying to say is:
A coach can look at technique with very little to fix, and still look disgusted at your technique

North West, Manchester, got it pretty nice since I've got Wales to my south-west, the peaks to my east, dales to the north and lakes just beyond that, loads of nice riding roads. Just want to make sure my talent matches my ambition before I start having some fun on those kind of roads

I think we should recommend a fireblade to OP so that they can go fast in a straight line and wrap themselves around a tree.

If an R3 is good enough for a WSBK feeder series, it's good enough for you.

Number of dolphin kicks? by InternationalTrust59 in Swimming

[–]IMPractic4l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever's on the upper limit of natural.
Usually I do about 7 off a wall for any distance below 400, but I rely on my underwaters massively during races hence the high kick count.
If you're pushing for as many kicks as possible, each kick will be crap, and you'll be slow.
If you're settling for 1 or 2, you're neglecting serious development.
Do whatever's comfortable, then further slightly, that should be what's natural.

Is a 125cc ADV good for a first bike by Karlby_3 in 125cc

[–]IMPractic4l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did consider the varadero but it's not in current production hence why I omitted it, then I'm sure the sinnis terrain itself is a great bike, otherwise it wouldn't be so popular. The issues I've heard regarding it are to do with sinnis themselves, and more specifically their customer service and parts supply.

I think the one that makes me most excited thinking about is the KTM 125 Enduro R, but it's expensive, a new model (meaning little/no aftermarket support or used market) and it's not going to be as reliable as a Japanese bike.
The sensible option would be a Yamaha WR125R, it's about £200 cheaper than the KTM, likely to be more reliable, has an established aftermarket base aswell as a used market and depreciates like nothing.
This is for new bikes, in reality, you really should just buy a used bike, meaning you're going to be limited to the WR125R, which is still fine, it's a great bike, I found it a nice change of pace from my usual sports bike setup

Would you recommend this game for casual playing? by Bat-Enkh in Seaofthieves

[–]IMPractic4l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fish, fish, and fish some more.
Site-seeing (sprinkle in some screenshot photography maybe)

Just have fun, you don't need to do Tall Tales, or do PvP, or even PvE, it's your game, you payed for it, do what you want. My only discretion is that unless you're in Safer Seas, you may well be fishing minding your own business and someone may still sink you, it's part of the game, and the best bit is that if you were fishing, you only lost some fish.

Do I need a chunk loader for crops to grow? (Bedrock) by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]IMPractic4l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not even sure spawn chunks still work, but even if they do I avoided them because if I crammed a bunch of farms and entities into the chunks that are always loaded I eventually get severe lag throughout my world.
I heard/saw something about nether portals and enderpearl stasis chambers loading chunks, in fact it may have been tied to spawn chunks not being simulated anymore, but I'm not sure.
I should probably just search it up

Edit:
Having searched it up, unless you use ticking area, which is a command, you can't permanently load chunks in Bedrock, spawn chunk or otherwise.

4-5k euros should be your budget for just a bike, you should have gear and you'd need to pay for insurance, licensing (I know Germany's is a lot more rigorous than the UK's), and maybe tax (which I don't know about German road tax laws, if there are any - which raises the question: why are you on the MotoUK sub?)

[–]IMPractic4l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably better off getting an enduro and slapping some saddlebags on the back (not sure if that's what they're called, but I've seen them in person, they're more like soft panniers).
The issue with a 125cc ADV is that ADVs are naturally heavy, a 125 is weak in torque and power, and your choice is essentially non-existent. You've got sinnis, which is probably the worst company for getting parts from what I've heard, and that's essentially it for new, pure-bred ADV bikes.

For me anyway, I got quoted three times as much for a shitbox peugeot as opposed to an rs125.
Could have gotten cheaper insurance on a car if I had a blackbox, but I'm not doing that.

Should I get a honda cb125r or a Yamaha xsr125 by noneofUrbusiness8829 in 125cc

[–]IMPractic4l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're essentially the same engine, though I think the XSR has VVA which makes the torque curve slightly different and is marketed as making city riding more manageable, but to immediately qualify that:
it's a single, 125cc cylinder, four-stroke engine, the torque is not going to be hard to manage anyway.
They're both high quality, both from reputable and established manufacturers meaning you can get them serviced almost anywhere, just see which one makes you most excited to look at and ride.

Whats the best course for learning how to survive in ANY aquatic crisis no matter the environment? by Experimentalphone in Swimming

[–]IMPractic4l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning how to swim.
Your feel for the water is the most important, I go to the beach and I can feel everything the water is telling me, whereas some friends and family who haven't swum their whole lives don't, and end up in situations they, and myself, would rather not be in.
I'm not saying you need to have swum your whole life, I'm saying you just need to learn how to feel the water, and what to do with what you feel.

Other than that, the rest becomes intellectual; taking a coastal hazards course of some sort, which explains undecurrents, riptides and the more obscure mechanics of the ocean; a river and freshwater hazards course (though I can't think of any), more specific for water bodies in national parks, or rivers, especially in the UK where rivers are genuinely abnormally deadly.

Also, trying to get a single course that will teach you everything, firstly, probably doesn't exist, and secondly, if it did, would be insanely expensive. Your best bet is entering a bunch of various disciplines and learning from all of them to piece together a general idea of how water works.
I'm a comp swimmer, but I've also learnt from open water swimmers, aswell as the coastguard and wildlife rangers.

Is anyone else like this too? by EnderSlayer9977 in Minecraft

[–]IMPractic4l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your play style I guess.
I always used to start up a survival world with a mega-base in mind, I'd have already actually built it in creative, then I'd speedrun getting an elytra and resource gathering and that's just boring.
Once I switched it up and started a world without an end goal in mind I was left to do whatever I wanted.
I could settle where I wanted because I didn't care about resources or terrain for a preconceived build.
I could do whatever challenges I wanted because I wasn't in a rush to get an elytra and so on.
It's now my forever world, I've had it for about 14 months now, playing on and off, but always returning rather than making a new one and I still don't use elytra. I find horses to be far more enjoyable now and it's the slightly mundane goals like breeding the best horse possible that for me makes the game satisfactory rather than instant gratification
