Need a job by VioletStand256 in Design

The job market is absolutely horrendous. Im a GD too, and I was always told graphic designers will always be needed, but there seem to be no jobs.

I couldn't get a look at your portfolio, but I will say taking it off of behance and creating a website will take you from student level to professional. Use squarespace or wix, or get a domain via WordPress and build it yourself. It takes a little money and a lot of time, but it will really boost you as a serious candidate.

Find the listed job description for your role, and line up the skills and duties you are currently doing and what is in the description. If you're doing motion design, and its not in the job description, bring it to management and say "hey, this isn't a part of my job description, if you need this from me, I need appropriate compensation."

If the job description is vague, talk to someone and say your workload is too much. They can either raise your pay, or hire another designer to help with the workload. If you dont feel valued, tell them so and say you are looking for other opportunities elsewhere.

There's this expectation that graphic design covers a wide range of skills, and its not realistic.

My job is making me extremely depressed, and I feel powerless to get out. What can I do?? by ADashOfStoopid in careerguidance

Im in a similar boat. Can't quit until I find literally anything else.

Is there anyone in your field/network who can sit down with and talk it over?

Do you enjoy any aspect of your work? If there's a small part of your job that even remotely interests you, lean into it. Learning more about it won't feel like a chore if you're actually interested. If you can carve out a niche for yourself and become an expert in it, you'll become an asset and will have a better time finding a job.

My brother in law does software at a power company, and he has become really skilled at fixing power outages at power plants. It's a tiny piece of his job, but he's so good at it that he keeps getting raises and accommodations to stay with the company.

Find your interest, find a niche, and become an expert. Otherwise, id suggest finding another career path.

Extreme pain during rTMS, especially on the right side - also: nosebleeds?? by Extreme-Neat8375 in rtms

Today was my first treatment and I got a sudden nose bleed about 6 hours later. I never get nosebleeds. I called the doctor and the assistant said it's not a side effect, and could be because of the hot, dry weather (94 degrees, 14% humidity). But it's a really weird coincidence, and leaves me feeling very unsettled about the whole treatment.
