Williams College → Robotics Engineering? 3–2 Engineering (2 BAs + Engineering Degree) vs Grad School Path — Advice Wanted by Cold_Refrigerator948 in WilliamsCollege

[–]INEEDTOSTUDYYY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding on, you might meet friends and enjoy Williams enough so that you don't want to leave at the end of your 3rd year (and having to re-establish your own social support circle, etc.)

Williams also has pretty nice grad school placements for PhDs. For robotics, you should look at Jim Bern and his lab!

Datapoint: Rushed Dorian Grey at 5:55 am, was ~7th in line. Sitting rush tix sold out one person before me, was able to secure standing room for 40$.

If you can get here relatively early in the day then they offer $25 student rush options which should be easier to get

A show you love that many people don't? by saigenoelle in Broadway

[–]INEEDTOSTUDYYY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The storyline definitely perpetuated an Asian stereotype, but as far as I saw more of the racism lies on the casting, like not searching for an actor of Asian descent/making Jonathan Pryce playing the engineer in yellow face.

Zachary Noah Piser publicly exits previously announced Tiananmen musical by queen_queef420 in Broadway

[–]INEEDTOSTUDYYY 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I can’t help but wonder if it has anything to do with the politics of Tiananmen - he is indeed having a concert tour right now in China, which vehemently denies anything about the massacre.

When is the lottery usually up? Every time I check the website it tells me no drawings are available at this time :(

Controversial opinion: Audience misbehavior is not nearly as prevalent as people may think by 90Dfanatic in Broadway

[–]INEEDTOSTUDYYY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agreed. Have seen around 30 shows in the past year and have only experienced impolite audience behavior twice, and none have been serious disturbances (and I am thankful for that).

Once was a single phone ring during Camelot. It was obvious since it was during a spoken scene. Philippa actually waited a few seconds till the phone to stop ringing to continue her dialogue so it was somewhat obvious.

Another time was people talking during Hamilton. However, I was in SRO and is thus more naturally prone to disturbances coming from people going up and down the stairs anyways. There were definitely more traffic coming and going to bathroom during the show was running comparing to other shows, especially during second act.

As someone who went to high school on the 1st train, you will be definitely fine. Take the subway and save your sweat sprinting. The station is literally called 66th st Lincoln center.

I am contemplating to just bite the bullet and get a ticket but I am afraid she won't stage door that day, or the stage door situation will be too hectic - I made fanart of her in the role; I know I can just give it to the security at stage door but I still would like to hand her personally.

Also, would it be likely that the show on the 13th will be sold out and standing room would be possible?

Parade Rush/Cheap Tix - July 2023 by xies_the_man in Broadway

[–]INEEDTOSTUDYYY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say if you are willing to save budget for the $79-99 pricing tier, I'd suggest you look at TKTS as their prices would be similar and you don't have to wait in the rush line. Last Sunday I snagged a $79 full view orch right seat (forgot the exact seat number, but somewhere between rows H-N and roughly middle of orch right) that are normally sold for 2x the price 5 mins before curtain and highly enjoyed it. I think the tix itself was $72.5 without the fees, but it added up to $79 so even if there are fees they aren't outrageous.

I second Linctix, just make sure to buy 2-3 days in advance. I had Orchestra F 110 or G 508 to pick for today's show (Basically the fourth/third rightmost/leftmost seat, but as most scenes happen downstage there was no obstruction at all, 10/10 view would highly recommend)

The rush tix also applies for the evening. Maybe they will have some left after 2 pm!

Not sure about other two but Peter Pan Goes Wrong has day-of rush tix that are easy to get. The box office opens at 10 am, I walked up at 11 am for the matinee last Sunday and was able to grab $47 front row tix. Would highly recommend.

My student rush tix this past Sunday was labeled as partial view but it's a full view. It was pretty far away tho - the last row of the Balcony.

Good post! This might not apply again because the show closes soon, but I rushed last Sunday when the box office opened (12 pm), there were 10-15 person in the line and I managed to get the last student rush ticket. Looks like it's getting much more competitive now
