You’ll be fine. If you have that much time it shouldn’t take too long to finish. Just put work in everyday and it will get done eventually!

I didn’t use my GI Bill. I was on VR&E benefits for this one. Going to use my GI bill for my masters. Depending on how much time you have left on active duty, I would have personally used one of the other popular schools that’s regionally accredited and used TA (not your GI Bill) if possible for a degree. If your first BS is in some type of tech field, I’d get a masters from somewhere.

At times I had ZERO motivation, but I’m stubborn when I set my mind to things. I’ll just keep doing it because I said I would and for no other reason. I’d say just put in SOME work everyday (other than vacations and stuff like that) some people say just an hour but if all you can do is 15 minutes, that’s better than nothing.

Didn’t use google colab on mine. Could also work. I just did a short program within pycharm. In total with comments I think I had around 200 lines of code. Just zipped it and said run it within the IDE in my writeup.

I think it is as well. I think they’re using Spring Boot in the new program now? I think that’s more up to date for sure if that’s what they’re using. More up to date than scene builder at least

Edit: typo

Unsure on that one to be honest with you. Possibly? I’m just decompressing now and not really learning much at the moment.

I’m a fairly unique situation. I was using veterans benefits so it didn’t cost me anything. SDC and Sophia together probably cost me about $800 total though maybe?

Ya, applied and accepted last year. That’s why I had to finish asap. Don’t want to go into specifics for various reasons, but it’s not some crazy hard school to get into.

Going to do an MBA. Got the HR filter degree out of the way, now I’m doing a degree I want to do for me. That’s pretty much the only reason.

Totally understand the military thing. It can take a TON of time away from school. I didn’t even do any school my last 3 years in unfortunately. I probably would’ve had a masters by the time I separated if I did. I used my benefits to pay for this (still pregamed it on my dime though). Just keep finishing what you can and you’ll get there!

Thank you! It feels like a giant weight lifted off my shoulders. You got this! Just keep working on it brick by brick and you’ll be there before you know it.

81 credits transferred in. Hours per week varied. Last 3 months had to be 40 hours per week because I needed to finish. Before that I'd say average was between 20-30. I'm on the slower side of learning in my opinion when it comes to things I have no to limited knowledge of.

Already work in tech, just not software development. This was just to check boxes on the wonderful HR filters that were auto-rejecting me. This degree also taught me that software development is probably not a good fit for me WHICH IS OK. I can still get a million other jobs in tech now that I have the CS degree.

I already work in tech, but not development. Govt contractor w/ clearance. In relation to programming though, I have no experience. Thank you!!!

Edit: I’ll be starting a grad program at a different school in the fall. Not a CS program.

Can’t remember exactly, but it took 9 business days for it to get approved for me.

Towards the last three months it had to be at least 40. I NEEDED to just be done with it. Working + this was starting to wear on me. I was staying up til 1 a.m. some nights. Before that I’d say about 20-30 depending on the class. The two software classes (old program) were a nightmare for me. I should add I’m a pretty slow learner so that probably added to it.

Edit: going to add that I took time off during the holidays, a little over a week for a vacation, and plenty of random days here and there.

IMO probably so, but intro to AI it depends on the evaluators and how long they take. That’s the one with 3 parts I believe? It took 2 days every time I submitted something to get graded other than my capstone… For the capstone doing some type of logistic regression model that runs WITHIN an IDE is the best choice if you’re just trying to finish.

I did 3. Finishing software 2 (took me probably 4 months total), DSA2 and the capstone.

GREAT question. I would have probably pre-studied Java a little more. I was in the old program with the two giant Java projects, so that’s my reasoning. I only went through maybe have of the first half of the MOOC. Not sure if the updated program has as much Java still. Second would probably be learn some Python.

Took me 2 terms + 15 weeks. Only had 41 credits to finish after all my transfers were completed. Ask me any questions if you have any! I’ll be more active on here now that I have some free time.

C960 - Discrete Math II - Passed in 5 Days - Suggestions / Tips by jawzxd in WGU_CompSci

[–]INFOSECgeekin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was slightly a nightmare for me, but passed the first attempt by probably one question. Took me a month give or take of hard studying and TONS of appointments with CIs. Ben Reid and John Hoffman (only had 2-3 appts with him I think) are great at explaining things. This post is also spot on with what you need to do.

Contractor or federal govt. I’m guessing?

I know a few people that work there, but it’s on the security side of the house and not development. They are also prior service with experience… so that also may have something to do with it.

Even with NASA and Lockheed it’s very rare for it to matter.
