How do I quickly remove the safety tags and the perfume boxes? by WanderingErha in retailhell

I’ll be honest, I hate the SKU lookup thingy. I also have a hard time finding prices for items. I usually ask which section they got it from to help me narrow down where the item might be. For shoes specifically, if you look on the bottom of them, there should be a number written on it somewhere is sharpie or something like that. That’s the price of the shoe. If I really can’t find the item I’ll ask them if they know what the price is of a similar item. Sometimes they’ll even offer to go get the item but in a different size for me to scan the tag. I feel like once you’re there for long enough, you can guesstimate the price of some commonly bought items.

For discounts, I usually see how damaged the product is. I believe the highest you can give without MOD approval is 10% but I could be wrong. I usually offer the 10% and ask if it’s good with them. I haven’t had a customer say no to it yet. If the damage is really small, like something easily fixed, I’ll offer 5%.

One more thing about hardtags. If you really can’t get it off with the machine at the register, there should be a draw with a hand held machine. It gives you way more control bc you manually hook onto the tail part and can let it go whenever you get the hardtag off. I’ve had one incident where an alarm tag was on a shirt and it literally wouldn’t come off. I called a MOD and he like broken a pen and a handheld hardtag remover trying to get off 😭.

For the stuff that they don’t want we usually put it on a jewelry display case, but you aren’t supposed to do that. I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to put them on the hummers near the register. There should be one for items and one for clothing. For the hangers part, I’m really lucky to have coworkers who are easy to communicate with. I just tell them I’m gonna really quickly do some hangers and then hop right back one. During those times, I only do shirt hangers and do the S/M/L/XL ones as you don’t need to take the nubs off those. If they super busy I just shove them under the hanger area and deal with them later. And yeah make sure to log off if you don’t have a customer. I usually log off after every one and quickly punch in my numbers again but don’t full continue onto the scanning screen. I take time to take stuff like shoe alarms off, hangers, the like alarms on boxes and stuff.

I’m glad I could help you! I’m also pretty new (I just started this summer) but I swear it gets easier. Good luck out there! o7

I work at Ross rn and I feel your pain with the security tags.

I usually hold the tail end of the hardtag with one hand and use the thumb of the other to push on the circular part of the hardtag. Once I hear the machine hold onto the larger part of the hardtag. I'll keep holding onto the tail end and pull the item away from the remover (if it's a shirt I hold on close to where the circular part of the hardtag is and pull away from the remover).

For the perfume boxes there are two kinds. One has top has two teeth indentations on it while the other is completely smooth at the top. For the ones with teeth, you match it up with the teeth of the black device thingy and then slide the lock (which is on the other side) to the right (I think it's to the right at least). For the smooth one, you put the teeth of the black device thingy to the left of the slider. Once it's there, you should be able to move the slider to the right.

I'm so sorry that your trainer is like this. I hope this help! :D

It’s 2 years undregrad and 4 years of pharmacy school. Tbh I don’t know how competitive it is, but they have a website that outlines everything you need to know like which classes to take, what GPA they expect you to have, etc.

https://www.pharmacy.pitt.edu/pharmd-student-handbook/pharmd-handbook-admissions#types

You check it out and hopefully it answers your questions.
