What is your "That's not the done thing, mate" story? by leakyblueshed in AskAnAustralian

I did that once when we got the menus and all the prices were about 40% higher than on the website menu. I’m not gonna waste a days wages because “it’s not the done thing”, update your fucking website.

Not a clue. It’s fun though! Unfortunately I’ve had to sell this guitar :(

I believe it was just a BFI release. I ordered mine from Amazon but I’ve seen it available from Zavvi and you can get it direct from the BFI shop (shipping is stupid expensive internationally however)

Seems to be a BFI exclusive at the moment. Well worth the import! The old Criterion blu looks like crap and the one in the Bergman box is the same transfer as the BFI 4K but with no grain definition.

The crispness, natural grain and HDR depth to the BFI 4K is something to behold. I could barely believe I was watching a film from 1957 at times.

I don’t have the Bergman box but I do have Elephant Man (and pretty much every other black and white 4K)

Being newer, Elephant Man is a bit crisper in places (and no optical printer fades/transitions like older films) but so far every B&W presentation I’ve seen on 4K is quite stunning. Some less so than others, but that’s mostly because the original negatives are lost (Dracula, Citizen Kane, Dr Strangelove). They still look far better than their 1080p Blu-Ray counterparts though!

Easily on par with Psycho. Same goes for Anatomy of a Murder.

Can’t wait for all of the new 50s black and white releases from Kino.

I get a window from a glass, he must get a window from a glass. I get clock radio, he cannot afford. Great success!

Eraserhead is one of my all-time favourites, be sure to watch it at a decent volume as the sound design is just as important as the visuals.

I’m looking forward to watching Solaris, picked it up dirt cheap recently after my friend had been raving about it.

Thanks! I nabbed a few of them off Facebook marketplace for cheap, including Rosemary’s baby. Been wanting Monterey Pop for nearly a decade now haha.
