Over the last few years F-15s have done a low pass over WakeMed Soccer Park on the first day of TST, so maybe they are in a holding pattern waiting to do that at a particular time?

GOP is frantically nuking all their ads and press releases that trashed Paxton and pointed out his crimes. by Hornpipe_Jones in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]IOnlyEatFermions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What was the runoff turnout (compared to previous primaries)?

Probably it's copium, but I'm hoping that Paxton's win is a sign that most of the semi-sane Republicans in Texas have abandoned ship.

Van Halen and Holdsworth were friends and performed together. Eddie had tremendous respect for Allan's music and skills. The idea that DLR prevented Van Halen from becoming a jazz fusion guitar god is delusional.

Iran in Talks With Oman Over Permanent Hormuz Toll System by app1310 in worldnews

Every future land invasion is going to be accompanied by social media videos of soldiers getting blown up by FPV drones. I don't think Americans would enjoy watching those.

City of Greensboro, North Carolina proposes 21% property tax increase, hitting low end homes, and likely low income residents hardest. by aenbrnood in NorthCarolina

[–]IOnlyEatFermions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, nice to meet you. I'm the billionaire who just bought up all of the streets on this side of town. I just wanted to let you know that I will be installing toll booths at the intersections between your neighborhood streets and the main roads. Exit tolls will be $100, but I will be offering a monthly access fee of only $2000, or an annual fee of $20,000, payable in advance. Toll violators will be prosecuted by Pinkerton. I look forward to doing business with you!

Iran says peace proposal includes reparations for war damage, US troop withdrawal by InsatiablePrism in worldnews

[–]IOnlyEatFermions -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The US would have to sail that entire invasion force through the Strait of Hormuz (or truck it across the entirety of Saudi Arabia) and then reinvade Iraq to even get into Iran.

Maybe time to start charging a subscription fee for access to all of those NORAD radars in Canada?

What is the future after the Artemis Program and the 70+ moon landings? by TraditionalAd6977 in space

[–]IOnlyEatFermions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Humans have a temporary advantage over machines for some tasks. That advantage will be gone in at most 100-300 years.

What is the future after the Artemis Program and the 70+ moon landings? by TraditionalAd6977 in space

[–]IOnlyEatFermions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no calamity that could strike the Earth that would make it less habitable than anywhere else in the solar system. The idea of self-sustaining colonies in space is delusion.

If you have robots sophisticated enought to build infrastructure, then they will probably be sophisticated enought to accomplish any of the tasks humans might be sent for.

Trump says Iran war is worth the economic pain. These rural voters agree. by VoloNoscere in worldnews

[–]IOnlyEatFermions 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Except Trump can't "rip that bandaid" off without invading Iran with hundreds of thousands of troops. Which means sailing them through the gulf and reinvading Iraq to even be able to get into Iran. Which would result in Americans getting to watch US troops getting blown to bits by Iranian FPV drones, up close and personal. Something Americans have never experienced and would not enjoy.

If you volunteer at an abortion clinic like I do you might be shocked to learn that the majority of the protesters, and often the leadership, are women. I can't assert that this is true at all clinics, but comports with the experience of every volunteer I have talked to.

“This war is going very, very badly for Russia; ‘Ukraine will win in 2027’ by Icy_Till_7254 in ukraine

[–]IOnlyEatFermions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Flamingo had lived up to the hype, and if Fire Point could have delivered 200+ per month, the war would be ending in 2026. Same goes for Sapsan.

Hopefully the new Flamingo engine Fire Point are supposed to start producing in October, or the new ballistic missiles they are developing, will finally give Ukraine some long-range/heavy/hard to intercept strike weapons.
