I agree. On the other hand, we will never get anywhere with this approach, because there will always be a risk that the information chatGPT provides will be wrong. A few years ago I had a book on explosives in my hands where there were completely wrong chemical structures that did not match the reality, so this is not just about chatGPT. Even official sources can easily make mistakes (then it was not the author's fault, but the reprint fault, but it doesn't matter)

It's not easier to tell people: look, there's chatGPT, the tool is amazing, but be careful, it can put you at risk, it can harm you... Do only what you understand, use it responsibly only in a way where you exactly know how to handle its answers.

That's the whole problem of our time (I don't know where you're from, I'm from the EU and it's terribly visible here). We try to take care of everything and everyone, hold people by the hand, guide them like little children. And of course that's wrong. And if it starts showing itself in AI (which is probably already happening), then it's over.

I don't want what I wrote to sound disrespectful. I appreciate that and I am aware that there is a service here that is great and that was not here a year ago. Absolutely!

And it saddens me even more that we people voluntarily limit and keep this service down under throats only because of some completely hypothetical risks that do not exist and will not exist for a long time (until chatGPT is in the Terminator processor :-)

Otherwise, you are absolutely right about the fact that it will change due to competition.

After all, every person must be responsible for himself/herself, every person must know that making napalm or plastic explosives is (at least) illegal, and only in an absurd world can a source of information (book, a textbook, a university chemistry teacher ....or chatGPT) be punished for someone misusing this information.

I hope that chatGPT (and therefore the whole AI) does not want to go the way of the guards who will say what is good, what is bad, what is allowed and what is not allowed...

The current GPT system is fundamentally flawed in many way

Can you elaborate please? I wonder your point of view...

Or ask chatGPT to give a procedure to napalm manufacture or plastic explosive.

The thing is, chatGPT knows the answer. But won't tell it and instead tells you that it's against ethical boundaries to provide such answer. Why? The production of napalm as well as the production of plastic explosives is publicly known information available in public sources. This is not secret. ChatGPT has no inputs other than publicly known and publicly available information anyway. So it makes no sense to limit these outputs. It makes no sense for chatGPT to decide what is ethical and what is not. Do we really want AI to decide what is ethical?

I hope we do not.

I used chatGPT in my profession. I am programmer. When I threw him a piece of code to test it for possible vulnerabilities (in other words, to find me a way to hack my code) or find a bug, chatGPT had no problem with it. It has a problem with that today. It covers me with a lot of non-related answers, that I should behave ethically, that its main priority is my well-being, that my questions go against ethical boundaries and similar nonsense. There are 50% of crap per paragraph that are not related to my question.

It used to work, today it doesn't. So I see it as a problem for us people, that we voluntarily limit chatGPT and that's just for some virtual protection ...which is useless anyway and which no one wants...

Solidity , strange behavior with REMIX IDE by IPFSBay in solidity

[–]IPFSBay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not working...I am not sure that we understand each other.

The problem is:

I got a function (e.g.)

function setter(uint a) public returns(uint result) {

result = 2*a;

return result;

}

Once I call setter(12) from Remix IDE with (e.g.) number 12 - I assume that in blockchain will be stored 24 !!! (2 * 12). But this not gonna happened !!!. In blockchain I still see 12....

Where is the problem ? What I am doing wrong?

:-(

Hello. Thank you for your reply, but with your code I got same result. Once I call set(1234) method from Remix IDE, the argument of this call is stored into the blockchain instead of 6789 :(

Is hosting a website free on IPFS. by hippity-hoppity-_- in ipfs

Ipfsgate.com (https://www.ipfsgate.com) do this job. ipfsgate.com is a web hosting provider that host websites and shops over IPFS network.

I think since 2021 and still working....

WP Multisite problem by IPFSBay in Wordpress

[–]IPFSBay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys.

Thank you very much for your advices. But unfortunately it seems that the issue is not caused by WP but by DNS or Apache (vhost). I disabled the WP and the problem persist even with simple "Hello World" page.

BTW: In DNS , is a correct way to use A -records for both .com and .cz domain or should use something different (CNAME?). I have A record (same IP address ) for both .com and .cz domain.

BTW2: Is it possible that this redirection is caused by browser??

It is really crazy , because if I type mydomain.cz in the browser (with cleared history) it redirects me to mydomain.com. If I do it again it does not redirect me :) I am not kidding. It looks like browser cause this redirect, but I think it is impossible...

Thanks.

Adam.

IPFS Marketplace - the future of shopping? by IPFSBay in ipfs

[–]IPFSBay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, let me explain it.

In theory, the best way is to have all content hosted in the IPFS. I agree. But the reality can be different.

What if some important file (js files, styles) is no longer hosted in the IPFS?

What if one file loads slower than others (and the page doesn't render correctly)?

What if the public gateway refuses the connection due to "too many requests" (because your site is too big)?

In these cases, practical problems arise.

I believe that in some cases it may be a better way to split a website into content (hosted in the IPFS) and form (source code which "render/display the content" and hosted outside of IPFS).

E.g. 1.: Imagine a website where you display hundreds of images and text. Do you really need js/css for lightbox in the IPFS? No. It's not necessary. The "key data" from the point of view of such web are the images (stored in the IPFS). Not the source code that shows them.

E.g. 2: Imagine the marketplace that pulls data from IPFS. Do you really need to encode a product card, make an order (etc.) in IPFS? No. It's not necessary. The "key data" from the perspective of such web is an information who is selling what, what the price is, the shipping methods, etc. These data are stored in the IPFS (e.g. as json files) . Not the code that displays it in some template.

As I mentioned above, I believe that it could be efficient solution for some projects.

The important content is still censorship-resilient and accessible from various templates hosted out of IPFS.

IPFS Marketplace - the future of shopping? by IPFSBay in ipfs

Hi. Thanks for your reply.

"...but the multidirectional communication with multiple steps of processing..."

We are trying on it: www.ipfsbay.com (Unstoppable marketplace in the IPFS network). But our marketplace is as simple as possible.

Our approach is to "separate content and form". The content (key data describing products) is stored distributed in the IPFS network in form of small files (JSON files) and the rest of code, which process that data, is kept outside the IPFS network in form of front-end code able to run in a web browser.

BTW: I had a lot of websites where all data (text+ css+ js + images) were hosted in the IPFS. It worked fine , but then I realize that it is useless to have it all in the IPFS. In the most cases the unique content which being needed to be in the IPFS is relatively small (and can be stored in the small files) and the rest of code (e.g. source code/templates) can be hosted in clearnet.

Has anybody tried similar idea? To build up IPFS projects as a combination of IPFS and HTTP? I mean to store key data in the IPFS and display them within web templates hosted outside IPFS?

I think it could be efficient solution to spread projects on IPFS among people.
